Hi Handa,

Did you know that you can look here; http://gogameguru.com/baduk-tv-guide/ and here; http://gogameguru.com/pro-go-calendar/ for that sort of information? I find both these pages very useful. Sometimes there will be information on one of them that isn't on the other, so check them both.

I knew. But last time the game started much earlier than what they said in the TV guide.

They didn't change date. You have to remember that east Asia is 1 day(14 hours or 13 hours depends on daylight savings time.) ahead USA.

Maybe you're talking about the baduk-tv broadcast, http://gogameguru.com/baduk-tv-guide/ it starts at 3pm KST. http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=2013-12-10+3pm+kst But I think that is 1 hour later than the time you gave.

China shuts Korea out in terms of individual tournaments this year. Even Japan even managed to win one!

Interestingly, I believe Korea won every team event.

And for every winner it was their first international title (and no one won two). This only happened once before in 2006 (not counting the first year of international tournaments in 1988). Competition from the young-uns is really hotting up! But it remains to be seen how many of these new players have the longevity of the big names like Lee Changho, Cho Hunhyeon, Lee Sedol, Gu Li. Chen Yaoye is perhaps the exception in that he has been a top player for several years and many people would consider his 1st win overdue.

This Result has truly shocked me. Is this truly the end of an era? I hope not.

Anyway, I've been following (second to Lee Sedol) the results of Yang Dingxin. He seems to be very strong even at just 15. In the last year and a half he's beaten all of the Chinese players in that list.

Judging by Uberdude's table it's the first year since 2006 that Lee Sedol hasn't won a tournament.

My initial thought was that the marked stones are weak. So I was surprised to see black opt to connect under. I figured it would have been more effective for black to jump out and continue to pressure the white stones, maybe with something like this:
