And I have a HUGE favor to ask of those that made comments... is it possible to either unhide them go-discussions if they are readable by kex and I? It might even be sweeter if you could post them here, with move numbers. I know its a lot to ask. But, I'd be extremely greatful. Who knows how long GD will remain up.
Here is an SGF on how we got here.
Okay... no move tonight I gotta let kex know I moved this, although I know he thinks its a good idea to do so!

If you check the other Malkovich threads, you'll see that Joaz is going to be revamping this section and we should wait until after tonight to start these games again in case any information is lost. However, after he is done, I will upload all of your malkovich game with kex up to this point in a .zip file, and I will do the same for all the other Malkovich games that have been or will be reposted from GoDiiscussions. That way, they'll be safe and secure on this new forum and our own computers.

I was planning on doing the same. Are you archiving all the GD pages, or just the moves? I was planning on doing the former.

Great!
I would really appreciate, if an admin would transfer the thread, as we as players should not read the hidden comments before the game end. That way we could really get rid of the old forum and just concentrate on the game.

Phelan: I was archiving every post in the active (non-finished) Malkovich threads. I could archive the finished Malkovich threads as well if I get around to it. I am not archiving non-Malkovich threads, if that is what you meant.
When I get home I'll get the archive for this game posted.

So, here's the archive of this game up to this point. Let me know if there are any problems :)

Looking at the black mess of stones to the right, living shouldn't be an issue. Although I get all battered and pushed around in the process. I'd make diagrams, but I'm trying to keep that in my head. If I'm wrong, I will remember why easier if my opponent shows me, than if I catch it in a diagram.
Jim, on the other hand needs help. I expect white to play at one of the points marked 'a'.

After this plays out, I'm going to turn my attention back to the white group in the top if possible. While doing so, I will no longer be interested in tossing the marked black stones.

But the black move at a would make the white group suffer badly . The forcing stone does not actually strengthen the white group...
How about fixing all possible cuts from the other side? The problem with that peep is that black can lean against the white stones to make the wall stronger:

As an added bonus, it keeps pressure on the black group running. I just have to be careful that the white group on the right side is kept alive. Luckily, I have the forcing moves against the corner in store.

The moves a and b are for strengthening the corner group. If black tenukies, there is a significant danger of dying in the corner. Especially a is bad for black. B is something that black can defend from by playing near a. But there is a fun sequence, if things get too far. 7 seems sente here

Well, it seems black cannot play as expected So black will probably defend, and white will have time to protect the cut, and simultaneously threatening the cut by playing at a. Black will probably then defend, giving white one or two nice peeps.

This starts to look bad... Starting from the lower part seems to lead to losing the two stones on the side, because I have no time to protect them with 7, which are I think important cutting stones.

Black will unlikely play without protecting at 4, especially since white play there will guarantee the second eye for white, white threatening black corner. Then white will have time for playing 5.

I think both white group are sane, as there are the lettered moves to work with.
And now, the question is: should I force with 1 first, or protect the cut first? I think I need to force first, as just protecting gives black the possibility to push on. So there the move
Debating whether I want to play chicken or not. If my reading is correct, white can kill the corner now with one move if I don't respond. That is worth about 30 points. So, its very big. I don't want to respond, because I'm stubborn. I could play N5 and threaten a ponnuki. They say those are worth 30 points But, I'd have to do something useful with it. I'll simmer a bit longer. I hate being forced around, but I may not have a choice, but being predictable is so boring

This isn't like me. But, these games are for a few reasons. Learning, entertainment of the players, and observers. This move seems to give white an interesting choice. Plus its much more fun for me than being submissive. If I lose because of it, I'll be upset (cause I lost), but will sleep better knowing I made a more interesting move...
I think the following diagram might be better for black than the next one in the hands of strong player. Even though I'm not a strong player I should strive to play like one

The marked black group still have no eye space, there is a peep and a cutting point. So I must make sure black cannot connect underneath to the corner.
The way I block is the simplest one, and puts most pressure in the corner. I'll still have a couple of forcing moves against the corner for later.
The move black actually made is better than the one I was considering earlier, as black has sente. Good that black forced me to cover the cutting point before playing here.
I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down, Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town, I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime, But is there because he's a victim of the times. -- Johnny Cash, Man in Black

If things get tough, white has the option of starting to make an eye on the side with a and the option to run to the centre, while threatening the marked black stones, with something around b.
So I think what I should do is strengthen the group on the middle, while attacking the weak black group:

The cut at a is such that black needs to think about now. And what can white do with the wall? It is time to think about the lower left corner. What to do with it. I still have no idea about that, but having strength around with sente does not hurt.
