Well, I guess that Magicwand isn't invincible (that is, if he was really trying last time ).

In any case, it was nice to have a bit more control for a change last game. This game will be harder. I no longer have the tengen stone, which helped me a bit last game...

But again, go is a logical game. If I play logically, I will win.

I will aim to make the best moves possible for this game - I've lost to him at 4 stones before. Let's make sure it doesn't happen, again!

i hate 5 stone handy... but now it is much different. i really hope kirby can beat me in 4 stone also but i am not going to make it easy for him..

I think a lot of moves are possible here. After all, only one move has been made. Each can lead to a different board position.

I played , above, because I want to try something new. I typically think in terms of territory. It's hard for me to think about influence and power. But I want to mix things up a bit.

Also, I want to see how Magicwand will respond. Will he just jump out and do a "normal" joseki, or will he do something wildly different?

Last game I would have pincered for sure. It feels natural to me to try to strengthen a stone while pincering simultaneously. But was played high, so it is hard to really get territory with that stone. If I pincer at "a" or "b", it feels kind of awkward:

but I don't think it's urgent to split up white at the top. I'll take the local profit of playing normally.

now i will start my game. as i said before, the key to a high handycapped game is never make your stones heavy. if they are not heavy you will avoid black's attack.
one stone by itself is never heavy so you will have to find a flow of attacking his group first and ride the flow.

I think that "a" is more solid. It finishes business in that area. So that's why I selected it.

I would have tenuki with to play O4.

i am afraid that he might tenuki. i believe tenuki is the correct move for black.
edit: may be not.. i changed my mind. tenuki will be bad. he should jump.

I can't think of a good plan to do on the bottom right now, so I'll split up the top. I think the flow is going smoothly.

I feel like trying something weird. I have gotten intimidated with this type of a move in the past, but I don't want him to control the flow of the game. I think that will happen if I just worry about the stone of mine that's being attacked... So, I'll try to control the flow of the game, more...

I still don't really get the idea of "flow"... But hopefully my idea isn't too whacked out :-p

I thought you were using the term "flow" conversationally before, but I'm starting to think you have a specific idea in mind when you say it (that is, you're using it like a vocab word/jargon instead of as a descriptive word). Do you mean direction of play, or is there a more specific meaning you have in mind?
