i have a feeling that i will play crazy unexpected move soon.
black is playing defensive so i have to try to maintain the balance.
and there will be time where i can not maintain the balance with normal moves.
then i have to play something he doesnt thing of...

i am still trying to feel my opponent so i only can play normal moves..

I'd continue at B and finish this middle game joseki and then play at a or one beneath it to carve out a moyo. Since he played like this i felt playing from the shimari was a good idea.

Yes, what you said about playing normal moves in order to learn about your opponent from his reactions made sense. That's one thing that I find interesting, is you seem to particularly like catering your moves to your opponent. I find that interesting, being able to vary your style to the weaknesses of your opponent.

Yithril:
I like the looks of this opening so far: kind of a more development-focused orthodox. I'm not sure I'd be gutsy enough to play it, because I keep getting in trouble with high enclosures. Not sure I could force myself to make a high enclosure where my opponent has a star point facing the high side... You said it's an opening you like. Mind telling me what caused you to adopt it originally?

Hmm, you'll find I don't have deep reasons :P I don't really see his high stone in the upper right to be that big of a deal. If he tries to undercut me I defend or pincer his stone no problem. I like games where I can develop in a clear, straightforward manner. With the high enclosure the direction of development is always laid out before you.

If the game ended up in the near future so that the largest area of the board was the top and you had sente, would you play something around F17 first, or K17? Or would there be a better 'normal' top move that I should be wanting to get in? Always interested in how to develop this enclosure, since I like it.

So White's made a mistake. There's no reason to directly answer 12 because I have a side extension so his followup moves only threaten to take territory and don't affect the life and death of my group there, whereas I can start attacking with 13 because he neglected to defend his group. I should get a good result.

I can just defend at 5 or play at A so my group up top is in absolutely no danger since I have a nice extension that grabs eyespace.
