Incidentally, I just heard about this sequence from a guy I played in Ohio. According to him, black can play the move I played. That's where I got the idea for it.
Locally, the obvious shape weakness is if white plays here:

Doh.
So this was the first real problem where the game didn't flow the way I expected it to...
Why is that?
Potential reasons:
(1) I played something complicated that I wasn't familiar with.
(2) After reading locally, I stopped thinking about it after the board position changed.

I knew I could surround the white stones like this. I even thought about the position that resulted from the game. But somehow, I didn't think about the fact that I wouldn't have enough liberties.
I felt the general position thinking ahead, but my awareness of the resulting liberties was bad.
As a result, I ended up here:

Alas, white has 4 liberties, and I have only three.
Later in the game, there are some minor reading mistakes, but psychologically, I've already fallen apart by now. I played aggressively to try to catch up, but it was no good.
Maybe a better strategy would be:
* Stay calm, though behind, and wait for an opening. Maybe there'd be another chance.
Just trying to push through aggressively after feeling behind made me overplay more and fall further behind...
So what are the overall takeaways?
(1) Reading mistakes were costly.
(2) I should investigate the pattern with that one space pincer.
(3) When behind, be calm and endure...
Problem with #3 is that sometimes my aggression works and I can make a comeback. I actually don't know what the stats would be if I compare post-screw-up aggression vs. post-screw-up calmness.
But given that I'm already on the aggressive side, maybe toning back wouldn't hurt.
