Patch 1.2 is out, so it's time for another L19 SC2 tourny! Again for an event with Go players, all levels are welcome. So it will be a Swiss where everyone plays all rounds, and as the tournament goes on you will get matched with players of similar skill.

Post here to let me know your interest here, including your battle.net name+identifier

Changes from last tourny:
BO3 instead of BO1
Will feature new GSL candidate maps (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmes ... _id=182734)
Casted by new up and coming streamer, KillerDucky! http://www.livestream.com/killerducky :ugeek:

Google spreadsheet I'm using for signups/pairing (First tab is new for this tourny):
http://tinyurl.com/25ota85

Tentative schedule and rules:
January 15, 2010 on NA Battle.net
Checkin: 7:42 PM CST in "L19" room on bnet
Round 1: 8:00 PM CST -- Game 1 on Aiur Garden
Round 2: Game 1 on Tal'Darim Altar
Round 3: Game 1 on Biohazard
Round 4: Game 1 on Crossfire

All rounds BO3

Maps:
First map specified per round. After that loser picks.
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmes ... _id=182734
Aiur Garden
Tal'Darim Altar
Biohazard
Crossfire
Metalopolis
Xelnaga Caverns
Shakuras Plateau
Scrap Station

Organization:
Pairings will be here: http://tinyurl.com/25ota85
Other organization in the "L19" room on bnet

Edit:
Took out Terminus Re and Crevasse.

Sorry for bailing out at the last minute last time, but since this is only the 2nd week of winter quarter I should be fine so I'll join in.

I was rethinking the maps, maybe we should only add 2 or 3 of the new maps instead of all 6? Personally I haven't actually played any games on any of them so maybe that would help. 3 new maps would be nice for the adventurous so they could play their entire BO3 on them.

Feedback?

Maybe just the first four. I can't find Terminus Re or Crevasse on B.Net.

EDIT: For those who don't know, just search "GSL" to find Tal'Darim Altar, Aiur Garden and Biohazard on Battle.net. Crossfire is a 2-player Blizzard map. CSamurai and I tried each one once today, and I like them so far, especially Aiur Garden. I'm a little tired of all the Blizzard maps that don't give easy defense of your main and natural.

Well, I'll come lose some more.

You should have my contact info from the last match, but I can go grab it if you need it?

That's really awesome! I assume it'll record them? I have to help a friend move so I can't play, but I'd love to watch them after. =)

Good idea, I just sent PMs to the people I haven't heard from yet. Also everyone feel free to invite more people.

Chew, yes livestream will record the cast!

My brother Jinqianhan#462 would like to register. He used to play on kgs as: http://www.gokgs.com/gameArchives.jsp?u ... Accounts=y but doesn't have an acct here on L19 so he'd like me to register for him.

I'm still a maybe, but more likely than not.

I have a good friend who also wants to join. He's only played a few games of Go but he's heard me talk quite a bit about the game. He is Yarhj.179 Platinum. Since we only have a few players this should be no problem, right?

Just to let everyone know, I may be ~10 minutes late (not at home right now), but I'll try to make it on time.

Congratulations to Araban aka Junshin on SC2! He won the tournament with a cleen sweep 4-0.

Unfortunately I messed up the recordings and they were not saved. I did get an extra game going after the tournament and managed to get that one recorded, so you can see Abydos v NeoNemesis on http://www.livestream.com/killerducky.

I'll probably do another of these next month, I had a good time casting the games, and sounds like the players had a good time as well. Please leave any feedback you have about the format.

Maps -- How did people feel about using the GSL candidates? I was thinking maybe next time we could just have 1 non-ladder map instead of 4 to make it easier to adjust to.

Pairing format -- I was thinking of switching to groups into stratified brackets. It would be like top 2 of each pool go into a top bracket, next 2 into another bracket, and bottom into a consolation bracket. This would keep the spirit of many games for players of all levels. The advantages are easier schedule -- only have to redo all the pairings once between pool play and bracket play. And also sets up a clear finals.

:). I wish I could have played more macro games though, which is something I still (and always will) need to work on. And next time I try to 1 base mothership I'll try to do it properly.

Yeah 1 or 2 sounds good, it felt a bit weird playing on some of those maps which I think comes from playing so many ladder games on the smaller official maps. I think when the GSL and other tourneys start using those maps so spectators can get more familiar with them, then maybe we can go back to 4.
