I never knew Mark, but judging by his posts on this forum, I wish I had.

My deepest condolences to everyone who was close to him.

Rest in Peace, T Mark, and thank you for everything, including being a Real Nice Guy. To me, you’ve been unforgettable from the first moment I read something you wrote here.

Sad loss indeed. I heard of his illness some time ago but nothing recently and hoped that he had recovered but ... I enjoyed meeting him (and John Fairbairn) during a visit to London a few years ago. His contribution to the game he loved and to the world go community was immense.

What a sad news! I saw Mark as recent as last year's London Open. He was transcribing games from a heavy Chinese book when I approached to say hello. He even gave me advice on how to teach my son to play Go. Rest in peace.

Very sad news. I only ever read his posts, but I always found them a joy to read. Condolences to the family.

What a loss. I was fortunate enough to meet him a couple of times. For years, the Winter GoGoD CD was my only only Xmas present to myself. I would wrap it and save it to open.

It is less than a week since he last logged on here. It all seems so sudden.

This is so sad. I personally have had so much enjoyment out of his work. I have always imagined meeting T. Mark "one of these days" and thanking him. An opportunity that has now slipped through my fingers with the sands of time. Condolences to his family and friends.

:(

If there's an afterlife, I hope you're sat there somewhere pipe in hand, Go board in front of you, showing all those unenlightened folks the joys of Go.

I met you in real life only twice, but I still remember both, which says something about the impact you must have had on those who knew you better.

Best wishes to all your family.

He caught me in a trick play once, and I always liked him a bit more after that. I wish I'd had the chance to pay him back.

I played him many, many times at various tournaments over the years. I suspect that I probably first played him in around 1990. I'll miss him.

RIP, T Mark. I never did find out what the T stood for...

Did anyone?

For nothing. He changed his name by deed poll to T Mark Hall (no full stop). Please respect that and don't speculate.

If anyone here wishes to attend the funeral (at his request, very simple), it will be at 2 pm on 6 January at Lambeth Crematorium, Blackshaw Road, Tooting.

I actually suspected that because of the lack of a full stop. But I did not want to speculate.

I still miss T Mark. I was organizing my data CDs the other day and out fell the folded up letter that came with the GoGoD CD with his friendly note and mark. It made me cry a bit.
