I just played a game where I counted that I won by 18.5 points, but the server has me winning by only 5.5 points. I get a dialog asking if I agree with the score, but if I say no, there's no way (on the iPad client) to change the status of groups. In any case, all the groups were marked correctly. Here's a screen shot of the end of the game:

Do you all agree with my count? Why would Tygem get it so wrong?

Bug? Could you post the SGF here? It's easy to double-check with an editor like MultiGo, or CGoban, etc. or count by hand, knowing the captured stones.

Captured stones are at the top, under each user's name: 29 for me, 5 for white. There's no SGFs available from Tygem.

Komi was 6.5 for B; I still don't get why B gets komi on Tygem, but that's the way it is...

Thats a difference of 18,5 - 5,5 = 13 points

6,5 x 2 = 13 points

Could it be that the komi is for white after all?

Hmm, can anyone confirm this? I asked earlier, and was told that it's for black, but the numbers do work out.

Well, we add the komi to white score. Maybe they substract the dum to black's instead ?

Dunno. I never paid attention in my other games, because there didn't seem to be a discrepancy.

You screenshot says "Black dum 6.5"

You seriously believed that a major go server would give komi to Black in an even game?

Well, every game record I've ever seen gives komi to white. I just thought that's the way it worked on Tygem: that they gave it to black. That's how it looks when you see the setup and the game in play.

It's just that it completely defeats the purpose of komi, which is to compensate for the starting advantage.

If an interface shows me "Black dum 6.5", my immediate assumption would be something like "I guess that's Korean for: black pays 6.5 point compensation", rather than "Apparently this server gives komi to black".

Negative komi is not unheard of. It is komi given to black...

Yes, but that's only as a handicap strategy, and even then -6.5 is unusual. This is an even game between players of the same rank.
