I heard very good things about volume 1, so I guess I'll pre-order myself a birthday present. :)

(Incidentally, even though I'm told the grand total is £29.79, I'm being charged in USD rather than GBP by Paypal, and their conversion rate is different to yours, so I'm paying £30.74. It's not a problem, of course, and their conversion rates have nothing to do with you, but I thought you should know - perhaps it could be made clearer on your website that this is what happens. I think you check L19 often, but if not I'll email this to you in a few days. :))

Thanks billywoods :)

I'll add something about that on the site when I have time. We update those currency rates daily, but currencies sometimes move more quickly than that and Visa, Paypal, banks etc all have their own rates. There's really no absolute rate that you can use as a reference so it's very difficult. Really the only reason why things stay as close as they do is that when they move too far apart the arbitrageurs move in and profit from bringing things back into line.

A possible reason for the discrepancy is that you're using the interbank rates. For retail customers, the spread and fees are significant, which might explain why billywoods has to pay more than the price you quote. It has nothing to do with arbitrageurs. The spread is the difference between the sell and the buy prices the banks quotes. The sell prices are nearly always greater than the buy prices, so a bank will nearly always make a profit just from the spread. Arbitrage comes into play only if you can find a bank that sell to you at a price which is lower than the price some other bank whats to buy from you. Say, bank A sell to you 10 pounds for $14 and then bank B buys those 10 pounds from you for $15 (I ignore the fees to keep it simple). Another, and perhaps more likely, reason is that the exchange rates are changing all the time, so your quote could just be out of date as you only update it once a day. The price of British pound may have fallen slightly in the few hours since the time you updated your quote. Then the actual price in pounds would be greater than your quote. Again, nothing to do with arbitrage.

You're welcome tchan :)

Because of where you live, you were the first person in the world to receive a copy of the book from Go Game Guru.

The last of the pre-orders shipped on Monday and the book is now available (shipped on the next business day) worldwide! (Click here to order)

I helped to edit Volume 2, so I've already read the book thoroughly and if anyone has any questions about it, just let me know.

Yay! I should have ordered it to come here rather than to my parents' address. Oh well. I might have to buy volume 1 to tide me over. :) Thanks!

According to Vol 2:
Quote:
The English version of Volume 3 will be published in 2014.

No further details beyond that.

Work on Volume 3 will start in September, with a goal of finishing it by mid-2014.

Daniela said May, but we should build in some contingency for her :). One year from now isn't a bad guess, assuming that things run to a similar timetable.

What kind of level is required to understand the commentaries ?
I'm very tempted to get them but I fear they will be too difficult for me to get anything out.

As they probably should be because Lee Seedol is one of the strongest players of our times.

Also except from which level it is understandable, you guys know the target audience ?

Mid-dan, high-dan, sdk ?

Cheers,
Otenki

In my opinion, the book is okay for any SDKs and stronger players. It's full of rich and complicated variations, but the explanations are easily understandable.

Maybe not enough for a EGF 5dan ;) http://www.lifein19x19.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=141653#p141653
