All just out of my head.

Greed is so hard to define in a game. ^^ In the end, I had to narrow it down to any attacking move you want to make so badly that you fail to see your danger. I know that has killed me several times, anyway.

Oh. I ended up to discover you here. I got one friend in México that he taught your comic but he downloaded a lot of pages since a cyber when he didn't have internet in his home. He was so funny when he narrated with diferent voices because there was another friend (when he presented Aji's Quest) that he don't know english.
I didn't know how find your comic because I forgot ask him until now that I see this post. But that session will always be remembered by me.

I want congratulate you because your comic is so good.

Somebody asked whether other Go teachers experienced the same as he: that girls tended to avoid tournaments while boys liked ranking fights.
( See German forum "Mädchen und Jungen beim Go")
I was reminded of Tesuji Tiger, the sister of Tsumego Tiger.
Colette lets her say on page 60: "I'm not a guardian. I have a life."
Is it pure accident that this ranking scepticism is expressed by a female character?
There is nobody more authoritative about that than the author herself, right?

Cheers,
Rainer

Hello,
there is new color version on Aji. It was posted on FB, not sure if it can be found on badkuk.tv.

Yep, I am getting paid. Aji is being published by BadukTV, and they have also hired me to help vet the English translations of some kid's go books. ^^

I would have come and said something myself, but there was a clause in the contract that said something about that I was not to make a public announcement. Since it has already been announced on Facebook and everything, I guess it's fine to talk about now. :D

It's not a coincidence. XD In my experience, average boys are much obsessive about ranking and competing than average girls are. There are always exceptions, of course, but just in general. In any case, the line was good for the character and Tesuji's superior attitude. I really enjoyed writing the tiger kids. ^^

Yes, wonderful news. And thank you for the Tesuji explanation. This is just one more example of why I am more than fond of Aji's Quest: everything has a background in your experience, be it the game and its fascination or teaching experience.
I remember well that you wrote that you gained fresh motivation from reading again some of Hikaru's stories.

How about the colouring: did you do it yourself or did you just give permission for it?

Cheers,
Rainer

I just gave permission, and am very grateful that they never thought to ask me to do the work. XD

Seriously, though, if a page took me one hour to draw, it often took 2 hours or more to figure out shading patterns, shadows and things to make it look interesting. The thought of adding color decisions into that would have added SO much more time to the work. My decision to make it black and white was only partly based on the thought that I could make a more affordable printed copy, and partly on the knowledge that the workload and tedium of coloring the pages would probably have slowed me down to the point where I would never have finished.

This book was heart-touching: "Go As Communication" by Yasuda Yasutoshi 9p.
It was recommended to me months ago, but only recently I bought it and read it today.
Anyone who teaches Go to children or elderly and disabled persons could gain profit from this book, for sure.
I was reminded of Aji's Quest, page 137 when I read in Yasuda's book on page 51:

Yasuda's book wrote:
I asked what he did at the Go club. It turned out that Mr. Thoma had explained the tactics that Japanese Go professionals use and talked about very difficult things. He tried to make the children better players and had thus taught them Go tactics very strictly. No wonder the children had walked away!
Colette has caught the dilemma with paper, pencil and humor on that very page 137.

Cheers,
Rainer

Polish version is now up to page 125. I think we will finish it as planned this winter.

I try to bother baduk.tv to get some colored pages - even few of them (like kind of bonus) will draw more attention from kids :)

Cheers

Thanks a lot for the link. I must say I am overwhelmed and completely happy with what they did. Colette has been creating a little world and presented it in beautiful pictures and with a funny story. Loving Go, I immediately fell in love with this little world when it came to life in autumn 2012.
Now it seems as if Colette had a Korean sister who had the patience to put in more details, colors and extra pictures, but everything just in the same mood as the original version.

It's a pity I cannot read the extended version as I am unable to decipher Hangul(?).
I would be glad, though, to participate in a project which will present the extended version in German.

Congratulations to Dariusz (gogeo) and his team for having finished the Polish translation before Christmas. I really enjoy how people are enthusiastic over Aji.

Many thanks again and again to Colette!

Cheers and Merry Christmas
Rainer
