Dusk: I don't understand how playing this move helps take the corner?

Also, it's a common trap for players of around your strength to justify their moves by calling them joseki. THIS COULD NOT MATTER LESS. The only thing that matters is whether the resulting shape is good for you or not. Knowing joseki is just a tool to quickly see the possible variations that will unfold. Try to see the shape at the end of the joseki and decide whether or not it's good for you. If it's not, then playing that joseki will be a very bad sequence.

Witht that in mind, if you still like this move, perhaps you could post the variation(s) you were expecting, so we can evaluate their feasibility and the quality of the result?]
;W[qm]WL[1713.606]C[Dusk: I was trying to review this position, but from this point on the shapes just go so foreign to me (i.e. I wouldn't be in this situation as either player, because I feel both players have already made mistakes) that it became really hard for me to evaluate what the best moves are.
