Hello.

I'm a beginner at Go.

Can you associate each of the following styles of play:
- Aggressive
- Attacking
- Belligerent
- Calculating
- Chaotic
- Computerish
- Defensive
- Fighting
- Greedy
- Instinctive
- Light
- Materialistic
- Natural
- Orthodox
- Passive
- Patient
- Peaceful
- Positional
- Quiet
- Sharp
- Slow
- Solid
- Strategic
- Tactical
- Thick
- Timid
- Tricky

With either the word "territory-oriented" or the word "influence-oriented".

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Hi Alcadeias,

Welcome to Go. :)

If you haven't finished 100 games yet, consider to do so as soon as possible.

What a smart arsed reply I gave - it is just the sort of comment I hate to get - I apologize.

But I do believe that you can apply all if those adjectives to both styles of play (though computerish is a new one to me). Many of the adjectives you use are descriptors for good ("calculating") and bad play ("slow"). Others describe qualities of the stones that are not necessarily good or bad but position dependent ("thick") or further dimensions on the style of play ("aggressive"). None seem mutually exclusive with territorial or influence based styles. But others may disagree.

I myself am a devotee of the Belligerent Style while being Fatalistic and Extremely Jealous.
Generally speaking if i haven't lost by move 120 something big will die soon :p
My moto, kill everything, leave none alive

Been looking long and hard at that list and it's really difficult to ascribe territory or moyo to either of them. At first I was thinking of going with moyo forces a fight, but then realised you could just have both players build a moyo without any real fighting happening and then duke it out in end game.

This site may not be completely accurate, but it gives a good attempt at stating what your style is like at the moment: http://gostyle.j2m.cz/webapp.html
