Yeah, I was about to comment about how odd that was as well.

Antti is listed as A class again, 7th place, indicating he finished first in B class last month. He also stopped blogging, which is probably a good sign :)

And he's on Christmas break in Finland enjoying some cold and snow I think. Maybe he writes something during this time?

And apparently, whole universities can register as insei.

note: I always assumed that Mr Fujsawa must have ran a Go school (a very honourable one). Is this the case?

Why are all the Japanese names in the roman alphabet but the two foreign players in Katakana?

Back in April when the Nihon Ki'in updated its web site, it appears to have switched completely to machine translation for its English pages, with no one doing even a sanity check. This means that there is a great deal of garbage (only some of it mildly amusing) cluttering the site now.

This is rather impressive.

Why do you mark Antti as a 25-year old? Is the Nihon Ki'In counting him as 26 because they use the Japanese age system?

As a side note, why so many 13 years old? The best player younger than 13 is in C class. Seems like a golden generation.

According to Sensei's Library, he runs the Shinjuku Igo Dojo.

Antti is 26 years old by western counting.

I'm not up to date but years ago the Nihon Ki-in established an insei center in Chiba(?). Various established pros were described in the yearbook as insei instructors. Maybe Fujisawa Kazunari is/was such an instructor. Inseis don't have to be disciples (deshis) of anyone but can just get teaching at the insei center.

Oh yes, a mistake was made. I accidentally used the ages in august as well.

Thanks for the link!

I can't read Japanese. In the first round, did Antti win against a non-insei who passed the preliminaries? In his performance last year, he didn't seem to have a chance against these non-inseis, especially the ones who passed the prelims in the end. Looks to me, he stepped up his game.

Is the ordering 1 to 16 by chance, according to strength or alphabet (if it is called that way, anyway)?
