You've got us on the edge of our seats here. What happened? :)

Was the package there when you got home? What do you think of the new set? Is the color of the board and bowls as impressive as it looks online? What are your impressions of the board's quality and stability? Do the bowls seem like they are durable? How do you feel about single convex now that you've seen the stones? Did you get some oil to polish the stones with? Have you played a game with it yet?

I suspect the go board has lured away yet another one of our users. It's a sad flaw of the forum.

I will update you guys later today on the events of that night. I work Fri-Sat-Sun, so I'm kinda of sluggish and don't do much on those 12 hour work days. I'll give you guys the details (with pics) after all the running around I have to do today.

Okay, here's the breakdown of when I got the package.

I knew it was waiting on me, around 3pm my wife text me a picture of it sitting beside my desk! I think the quality is superb and love the way it looks. The board and bowls are actually more impressive than the pictures on the YMI site.

The board is very sturdy with a heft that seems appropriate to its size. The quality of the wood grain is amazing and the finish is nice and smooth. The bowls seem durable and the reddish hue is beautiful!

The single convex stones are really nice! I can't compare to double convex since I've never used either. I like the feel of them and the weight feels 'right', so no complaints from me.

That first night was spent just looking at the board and washing the powder off the stones. That took far more time than I thought. I did buy some sewing machine oil to polish them with but have yet to do that.

Once we were done washing (and drying) the stones me and my girls played some capture go on the 9x9 board. It's quality wasn't half bad either and I was amazed it had a felted bottom. All-in-all the set is amazing and I couldn't be more happy with the product. Here are some pics:

The grain on that board is just amazing and those bowls look like they just gleam. It is very impressive.

The stones already look quite nice. If they are anything like my yunzi stones then after polishing they will really shine. Also, if you didn't know, yunzi stones are polished by the oils from human hands, so with regular play your stones will maintain that shine and can even increase in luster.

Thanks! :) I knew about the Yunzi stones retaining the oils. I was reading anything I could on the board and the stones and was fascinated by it all.

Think I'm going to start rewatching Hikaru no go again with the higher quality version I found. That anime is so awesome.....just stinks it never finished.

Merry Christmas abd Happy Birthday!

Hope your enjoying tour new board! It is lovely.

YMI is good but some products have problems. The 9x9 board will probably lose its lines as mine has. But the stobes are great they even survive falling on a wood floor.

According to CNN, UPS screwed up badly this Christmas.

CNN wrote:
Santa wasn't the only one racing against the clock to get packages to homes Tuesday night. UPS was too.

But the company's backlog left some Americans with gifts missing from under the Christmas tree Wednesday morning.

"We're terribly sorry," spokeswoman Natalie Black told CNN.

In a statement, the company explained that "the volume of air packages in our system exceeded the capacity of our network immediately preceding Christmas so some shipments were delayed."

"We know how hard it is for everyone to receive their holiday packages, and we're working around the clock to resolve this issue," Black said.

Behind the scenes, perhaps -- but UPS stuck to its plan to make no deliveries on Christmas, angering some customers.

The underlining in the above exerpted quote is mine. There is more at http://www.cnn.com/2013/12/25/us/ups-delays/

And...about 20 minutes ago, I saw a FEDEX truck stop in front of my neighbor's house.
