hey there, I believe I owe you a teaching game. but I started playing go because it mentally challenges me and I need that. your friend should definitely try it as it is much more complicated

oh, gosh. Please please please please  I asked you for a game but then the hyperminded me got distracted and totally forgot. What time would you be free? I am usually free around 11:40 a.m -12:25 p.m.. And will of course be ready at almost anytime in the summer. Although I'm not quite sure about the time-zone, since I'll be in VN for a month in a week. Can I pm. you so we can set up a game? pleasssseee? :) Thank you for your generosity before hand :D :salute:

Shouldn't this be relegated to a PM?

Still officially AGA 5d but I play so irregularly these days that I am probably only 3d or 4d over the board (but hopefully still 5d in terms of knowledge, theory and the ability to contribute).

I had a friend who would download anime fansubs, and one day in 2002 he showed me Hikaru no Go as a joke because he thought it was funny that it was being all dramatic about a board game. So did I, actually; the show portrayed with dramatic excitement what looked to us as if stones being put randomly on a board for no reason. I only watched that one episode then, but later I saw a cheap go board at a game store in the mall, and I recognized the game. I told the friend who there with me about the funny show that tried to make a board game look exciting, and we ended up getting it out of curiosity. We quickly realized the game was awesome and I have been playing ever since. Also, Hikaru no Go became and still is my favorite TV show.

Hi Marcus, I meant even when I've put in my best efforts,
many of my moves still appear to a pro to be played by a monkey.

(OTOH, monkeys have already demonstrated their vastly superior
pattern recognition speed and accuracy
v. humans. There's a YouTube clip somewhere... :) )

Artist statement:

While watching a nature program on primates I was struck by their facial similarity to our own. Humans are clearly different to animals, but the great apes inhabit that grey area between man and animal. I thought it would be interesting to try to photograph gorillas, chimpanzees, bonobos and orangutans using the aesthetic of the passport photograph- its ubiquitous style inferring the idea of identity.

I decided against photographing in zoos or using ‘animal actors’ but traveled to Cameroon, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo and Indonesia to meet orphans of the bush meat trade and live pet trade.
