Yesterday, I discovered that AGA 5 dan/KGS 4 dan Joshua Lee (Starstorm3) has uploaded some KGS lectures: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtYIiY ... mS9ClnKddQ So far, I've only watched his lecture/review of handicap games, but I thought that these videos might interest other beginners here. |

Nice, always good to have more of those. I've watched most of the stuff that I know of (and that is interesting to me^^) |

In case he reads this thread. Please reverse the way you do your titles. As it is when I browse your videos they all have the same title. Other than that I've enjoyed viewing his videos. |

I really like how these lessons are organized! Have you ever followed some annotations and kept wondering, what about these other moves? (Weak moves that may never even enter the conscious mind of a strong player.) In these KGS lectures, Joshua Lee selects a game or selected positions with a common theme, such as attacking weak stones, and asks his (mostly kyu) participants what they would play. He then looks at some possibilities to see why the various moves work or fail. His lessons rather feel like you've been invited to a Go party. See for yourself if you are a kyu-level player. |

Sat there watching the first twenty minutes or so. I like his style ![]() I do wonder about one of his sequences though, he was fairly sure that a tesuji in the following position led to a ko and not a seki, but I can't see why this isn't a seki: At this point commenting that this ko at the circled point is inevitable. But surely this is an option for Black for seki (about 18mins 30secs in on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0YkC3ZOoIQ#t=1112)? I mean, I can't see Black wanting to allow this anyway, but it looks seki to me... Edit: actually, I think that's rather the point, Black can make the ko because he wants to get all of it, and White can't force a seki and has to accept that it's ko |

I was watching one of Lee's videos, The Double Kakari [Approach], when I got a library notice that Yilun Yang's The Workshop Lectures: Vol. 3 (along with vol. 4 and Go Seigen's A Way of Play for the 21st Century) had arrived. It was very interesting to see Lee and Yang cover the same topic. The Workshop Lectures are very nice and make me wish that I had been there in person. On the other hand, the workshop books seem rather pricey for what are essentially pamphlets. Of course, I'm still looking for a good ten cent cup of coffee.
