Every year, my work sponsors something similar to what might commonly be referred to as a "Hackathon" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hackathon). Basically, rather than working on what you usually work on, you have the opportunity to work on developing something that interests you. Traditionally, there should still be business value in what you produce from a "Hackathon", but it appears that this year, the project requirements are quite loose - you can come up with pretty much whatever you want to.

I would like ideas on what to produce during this three day "Hackathon" event. Participants may not have prior knowledge of go, but they will probably have experience in programming.

Probably developing a go server, or something fancy like that, isn't very feasible in only three days. So it should be a small project. Ideally, it would promote the awareness of go, and make go more well known around the office.

Any ideas?

I suppose working on a bit of a ratings server for the AGA's online ratings protocol doesn't count?

We have lots of things on github! :D http://github.com/usgo/

It might very well be able to "count", though I'm not 100% sure.

At first I thought that these things had to have business value, but I was told that the bar is very low, so it can be pretty much anything. I can at least try to submit the project, and see if it goes through.
