I am not sure what to make of this game. Not only i didn't understand what they're doing, but if someone had showed me the game up to move let's say 50, i would have said that it's just 2 kids copying alpha go and having fun. Not only 2 of the top Japanese professionals are playing, but it's also a rather important game especially for Ida.

So, what is going on here? Every other moves in the fuseki seems to go against what i have read and "learned" from books and discussions from other players. Any comments would be appreciated

:w6: the 3-3 invasion is now the biggest move for white

:b7: starts the sente joseki

:b1: :b3: the 3-3 invasion is now the biggest move for black

:w1: :w4: starts the sente joseki

:w2: :white: biggest move for white

:b2: :b1: the 3-3 invasion is now the biggest move for black

:w2: :w2: starts the sente joseki

:w2: :w8: attachment variation to confine potential of the black shimari (G17 would be an alternative move for white)

:b3: :b7: attachment variation to reduce the white potential on the left side

:w4: :w4: looks like a mistake? (how about a play at B3)

:w4: :w8: standard answer to the clamp in this local position

Which moves go against what you have learned? Please advice.

I just played a game on fox before I read your question, coincidences are just a part of reality:

Lets call the game debunking tengen
Move 36 is a mistake, I should have played like Move 48 in the pro game
coincidences are in fact a result of studying with strong AI

This is not news.
The machine already showed 2+ years ago that human pros had been mistaken about a great many things ( to their credit, they also got many things correctly :) ). For hundreds if not thousands of years. They'd tried their best, yes, but they were still biased by human emotions ( too cash oriented, too locally focused, missing the big picture ). Arrogance, blindness, hubris.

To this day, some pros still don't understand or refuse to accept AZ innovation. Lingering remnants of a bygone era.

A few were exceptional: Go Seigen's moves had inklings of AG-Master long before the ENIAC. ( AlphaZero-chess also showed that handcrafted-chess engines were off...? )

Younger pros like Mr. Shibano and Mr. Ida and the new generations of children are much more open to embracing AZ.
