If you had to guess, what percentage of your life do you devote toward go these days? |

There are 24 hours in a day. I'd say I devote, on average, 0,5 hours toward go, so that makes about 2%. I should vote for 0% because that is nearest, but that gives a false impression, so I abstain. e: perhaps you meant something else than percentage of total hours, since 100% is also an option and one has to sleep too. |

Well, if you mean play time, 10%. But I've noticed I tend to spend more time reading about Go (the latest Go news, ect.) and watching dan and pro players more than I actually play. Is that weird? So if you include everything, it's probably more than 10%. |

I don't actually keep track of it. Sometimes I spend no time at all on Go because there are other interests that keep me under their spell or at least busy, and other times there are days or even weeks where every spare minute goes into Go. So, Kirby, what percentage of your life do you spend analyzing life, and how much of it do you spend living life? ![]() |

You have to sleep, so you don't have to put that into the equation. You don't have to count time eating, either - except for "eating for recreation", if you do that. |

10%, maybe more for the past couple of weeks. Too much time on the boards, too little time doing problems or reading books. Almost no time playing face to face or timed games. About the right amount on DGS. I just used my day minus time spent sleeping (about 6.5 hours, sadly) as the base, because I don't know how to count the time needed for survival. Does my commute count? How do I count the time I spend dicking around on the internet at work? If I'm watching my daughter, and I sneak a moment on the computer while she plays with her toys, how do I count that? It's enough to give John a headache. edited to remove an ambiguity. |

I've played about 1900 games during the last 2.5 years. That's about two games a day. Assuming a game lasts 20 mins on average this means I spend about 40 mins a day playing go. That's probably a relatively small percentage comparing with things like surfing. |
