If you have, what was your experience?

I ordered a Go Set from them and have been anxiously awaiting it (its by Birthday present). However, the tracking info has never updated since the day it was picked up from UPS. I email YMI and was told I have to contact UPS, I contact UPS and they say to contact YMI. I'm worried about getting screwed here (and have to do a reversal on my credit card, which is a PIA).

The set is suppose to be delivered today and I really can't escalate it until the day after the estimated delivery. But according to UPS the shipper can look into it before the receiver can, it was there unwillingness to even look into it when I contacted them that makes me worry.

Sorry, had to vent a little.

I've ordered from them without issues before, and as far as I know, they have a good reputation. I haven't dealt with them in a few years, though.

My guess is that YMI is telling you the truth: that they did give it to UPS, and that UPS is overloaded because of the holidays, and that it is sitting in a pile someplace in a warehouse while overloaded workers struggle to get to it.

I too have been waiting on a package delivered from UPS. The delivery window closes today at 8PM. I just looked on the porch a few seconds ago, and no package. :(

It happens during the holidays. I'm sorry, but you were born on a bad day. :)

I've ordered from YMI before without any problems. I definitely understand your frustration, but I suspect Joaz is right.

Thank you for making me laugh! That was great (the last part about being born on a bad day). Your probably right and it could even be out for delivery and Ill have it today. That has happened once before a long time ago, package never updated tracking and then was here.

I don't doubt that YMI gave it to UPS, I'm more irritated at the lack of tracking.....makes one worry. (not like the old days with no computer and waiting on your front stoop day after day waiting for that brown van!)

I wish you luck on getting your package today too!

Bought from YMI a number of times. They're reputable.

Best of luck with UPS.

I had a similar experience on my last YMI purchase. UPS's reason? A train was delayed.

It took them 4 days to tell me that my package was going to be late because a train was delayed. The very train it didn't get on the 4 days prior. Why couldn't they just tell me that the day it was late? Why wait until the day I was supposed to receive the package to finally update the information and say it was delayed?

The problem is UPS, not YMI. YMI is fantastic.

I'm not getting any info. The first time I called (this morning, bright and early) they said to contact the seller. I tried again, hoping for a different person. He said give it until the end of the business day and if it doesn't arrive by 7pm to contact them again. Then the paper work starts. He did mention that packages make it all the way to their destination without any scans and that my package could be one of those.

I'm dying for this set lol, It shipped on the 25th and the holidays slowed it down. I feel like a kid waiting for a long awaited toy at Christmas. :)

Well it didn't come and UPS says I need to get YMI to start a package investigation. :( I really hope they work with me, this entire experience has been horrible. I know its not there fault but UPS (and its entirely UPS's fault) seems reluctant to do anything with out there assistance. I can start the investigation myself but with there help it will go faster I am sure.

I hope for a speedy resolution.

They are telling the truth about that. YMI paid the bills, so they are the only ones who have a claim on UPS.

YMI emailed me and said they would start the package investigation and would do everything they could to resolve the issue. I still hope it will just show up and this will all be over, but if not I know they are doing what they can to help.

Good luck, rowen. YMI is one of my favorite dealers. I have never had anything but incredibly fast service from them. Hopefully the UPS guy will show up today with your stuff!

good luck, let us know how it goes. UPS has screwed me a couple times and I had to take action against them.

Thanks for the posts of encouragement everyone. It still has not arrived and according to UPS the request is there but they have not started searching at this time. I've thanked YMI for assisting me by starting the package search themselves.

This was my first Go board and I really can't wait to use it. I just want to be over so I can reorder if need be.

I'm sorry it hasn't arrived yet. I feel for you. I know that was frustrating for me. I was actually out of town over the weekend it was supposed to arrive (delivery date was a Friday) and I was without Internet access so the whole time I was thinking "Will it be there when I get back?" and then it didn't come until Tuesday because of that stupid train mistake.

Out of curiosity, which board did you get?

I got this: https://www.ymimports.com/p-2415-shin-kaya-12-go-board-with-yunzi-stones-and-bowls-reversible.aspx#.UqBpPmd3uUk

and this: https://www.ymimports.com/p-2254-9x9-38-beginners-learning-board.aspx#.UqBpd2d3uUk

The smaller one was for me and my girls to learn on. So I have all the sizes 9x9, 13x13 and 19x19. :)

EDIT: I didn't realize the stones were single convex until after I bought it, but I hear that is personal preference. I would have gotten double other wise.

I just bought a set of double convex glass from them. My first set that I bought from YMI was this one
https://www.ymimports.com/p-2425-shin-k ... qCHMsRDt8E

The only difference is that mine had single convex and the set now has double convex. I enjoy either, personally.

Post subject:  Re: Anyone order from Yellow Mountain Imports before?

That's a really nice set! I think I'm just excited to be able to play with real stones on a full size board. I got a cheap novelty set from Amazon to see if my kids and I would even like Go. It didn't take long to find the answer.

This is the set I have now: http://www.amazon.com/Go-Game-with-Wood-Board/dp/B00000IZPL/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1386254279&sr=8-2&keywords=go

The board is super small as are the stones. They are about the size 'if not smaller' than an M&M. Hard for adults to use but good enough to get a feel for if you want to spend more on a real set.
