Hi i made a pic:

Image

how can i remove the dark areas which are "thinking" areas of the program. i only have the demo and i'am trying to get used to it. i turned off all the buttons on the right and also went to the options and tried the standard configuration in any single tab there. this dark areas come up when i once tabbed (Games, Library, Matching, IGS, Problems) during a game.

any ideas?

thank you for your time.

Looks like you have pattern matching turned on. Check Tools > Joseki Matching to see if that's turned on. Use View > Show Diagram Caption to show the number of matching positions below the board; most likely it will indicate "No matching positions". Please let me know if that's not it.
