I just saw a game that features the south cross fuseki in a game by breakfast.
Seems like an intresting idea. You can find the game here:

I wonder what would be the strategy here though.
How do you get your oponent to fight you and not just take teritory everywhere while you are left with nothing in the center ?

In my personal opinion the reason black lost mainly in this game (but i'm just an 11kyu and the real oponent was 4d so probably i'm wrong about this) was that black put a stone in the center which white could pressure the whole time while developing. But what if black does not leave weaknesses like this and instead just does not care about the center and starts developing the corners and the sides ?

Maybe you just have to be really good at invading for this strategy to work ?

I guess I'll have to try it but in the meantime if anyone has some ideas please share :-)

Cheers,
Otenki

From what i've heard you just choose joseki that provokes fighting.

So these are my thoughts.

This happened in the lower right corner of the game

When i went through the game i thought black 5 was a mistake
I was thinking of this joseki.

if black played 5 like this a stone lower he could have played 7 and avoid fighting
but because black played 5 in Diag A
when white played 6 black had to respond by descending at 7 which gave white the option to complicate things.

According to eidogo if white emits 7 in Diag B black attaches at 1 to seal off white

After a few moves the corner looked like this

my opinion is black thinks white shouldn't be able to have too much so it's his right to attack white at

This is my opinion of how white lured black into fighting so that he was able to use his center stones.
