It repeatedly run into a corner variation where I - even after having encountered it several times - have difficulty finding proper moves. Just one example (I am white): Next I think the corner approach is normal, black then pincered and which I thought was a mistake, because the following variation is better for white: But, black of course didn't play like that - this is how it went: Where to go from here? This it was usually follows: I don't like that for white - but maybe I'm wrong? Maybe this is better: Please offer advice! |

I'd also say, you should enter the corner when you approach the top right and Black pincers. But if we go back one step, I don't think that the top is the interesting area right now. Your Shimari is low on the third line, you don't have much potential there compared to other areas on the board. And Black, too, would not want to approach your strong corner enclosure. I'd play ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thanks for the reply lovelove. So you would suggest upon being pincered to always invade at 3-3, and not consider jumping out at all? I really want to learn how to deal with bord positions like this, where my opponent does not answer with a move from the corner: Or is it really so bad for white to jump out? |

I'd just play moves that pros suggest in the opening, and do what I want to do in the middlegame. |
