Yes you are very right. If using one word to describe Miyazawa's style, 'unpredictable' is probably the best one. I still remember the Chinese giving him a nickname of '怪刀手' (roughly translating to strange swordsman) when he played the Japan China SuperGo. And one of his book is called '常識破壊' (destroying common sense, my rough translation again).
