The match was tied 1-1 and game three would determine whether Luo Xihe would win his first international title or Lee Changho would lose his first international title to a non-Korean.
As commentator Komatsu Hideki, 9d said: "Luo's all-out play, refusing to give an inch, was magnificent," but when Black gained the lead Lee refused to let him win easily. The culmination was a leap of faith by Luo into a endless ko fight that dragged on nearly 100-moves -- with both players intent on winning the ko regardless the cost.
"Luo is a fast player, but this was a two-hour game, so it's unlikely that he could have had enough time left to read out the continuation...[W]ithin sight of his first international victory...his intuitive feeling that he could handle the ko fight was magnificent...This game is a ko masterpiece"
