Aja Huang predicts 3-0 or 2-1 win for Zen. Also the version that gotta play might be the newly released 12.8 which is now competing in computer go server. Even without the aid of GPU, it's already two stones stronger than the commercial release Zenith Go 6 v.11.4 back in June (which is also two stones stronger than Zenith Go 5 v.10.2 that released back in 2013) My opinion, if AlphaGo help provide the match's winrate that'd be great, or even better, an alternative move. |

Where can we find the list of the best engines? I can't seem to find it when searching for computer go server, only some list from 2012. |

Seems like the 12.5 version is the strongest, or is this a mistake because other version haven't played as many games. |

The Nihon Ki-in just announced there will be live English commentary by Michael Redmond and Antti Tormanen: https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1285364724853085&id=286261298096771 wrote: As already informed, the Nihon Ki-in agrees with Deep Zen Go's programmer and its sponsor to set out ‘three game matches’ with the legendary Cho Chikun 9p on 19th, 20th and 23rd November 2016!! Deep Zen Go is seen as the second best computer go program now in the world because it gets the same deep learning system as AlphaGo. *For your reference, Deep Zen got the ranking No.1 as KGS 9-dan in September 2016 and he has got even stronger now since then. So many people in Japan expect Cho Chikun would be beaten by Deep Zen Go. Let's see that it will happen. How to watch the games: Michael Redmond 9p and Antti Tormanen 1p will give free live-commentaries on the special match in English at the following website (movie): http://www.nicovideo.jp/ * You need to register as free member from above website. The match will begin 13:00 on 19, 20 and 23 November (*in Japan local time). *You can also watch the game on WBaduk (Cyberoro). The following English page will be opened soon: (1) Match 1: Cho Chikun vs DeepZenGo [English commentary] http://live.nicovideo.jp/watch/lv281949598 19 Nov. from 12:30h (2) Match 2:Cho Chikun vs DeepZenGo [English commentary] http://live.nicovideo.jp/watch/lv281949974 20 Nov. from 12:30h (3) Match 3:Cho Chikun vs DeepZenGo [English commentary] http://live.nicovideo.jp/watch/lv281950196 23 Nov. from 12:30h P.S. I just registered on www.nicovideo.jp with no problem via an English process. |

Is the Redmond/Tormanen video available anywhere for free? Nicovideo seems to require a premium account to view it after the fact. |

I found it interesting that Michael Redmond and Myungwan Kim each had different conclusions about the fate of lower-right corner after white played Q3: Michael Redmond pointed out a ko if white's R2 is played as hane at P1 instead, while Myungwan Kim never mentioned this ko. Cho Chikun's reaction in the game seems to support Michael's thoughts: he was so agitated and talked to himself loudly after white Q3 at move 114, then after white R2 (which is a blunder according to Michael) he became more relieved and quiet again ![]() Did I miss anything in Myungwan's commentary (I didn't watch it entirely, just sampled through it). |

To all those complaining about nico, bear in mind it is owned by Dwango, the company supporting the development of Deep Zen Go. So although we live in a world where free and instant gratification is expected online, a 5 $/€ contribution to the enjoyment and interest this event brings the Go community does not seem unreasonable to me. @sorin: I didn't watch all Myungwan's commentary either, but in his summary he did say he preferred black's s6 descent as s5 kosumi for cleaner corner kill so that suggests he knew there was something better in there for white. |

That doesn't seem unreasonable to me, either. ![]() What does seem unreasonable is all the rights you grant them, along with the right to change their terms -- and that's for the free account! ![]() |
