From China I root for Tan Xiao. My favorite young pro from china, I like his style! From Japan I root for Cho Chikun. (I assume that's the same player as 'chihoon' if not I root for Yuki Satoshi ofc and Takao Shinji aswell. They're both Disciples of Fujisawa 9d so I hope they can make him proud) From Korea I root for Lee Chango. I hope he can get back in shape and get good results again. |

That Kim vs Qiu pairing is the highlight of this round, in my opinion. Will be excited to review the kifu. |

The following pairs are still playing. Kim Jiseok vs Qiu Jun Chen Yaoe vs Won Seongjin Fan Tingyu vs Taao Shinji Kong Jie vs Hane Naoki Trout, is there a reason you consistently write Chen Yaoe instead of Chen Yaoye? |

Reading up on the tourney I saw they are following the Ing rules. http://senseis.xmp.net/?IngRules They include: Area scoring Ing counting, filling in the board with 180 stones for each player Multiple-stone suicide is allowed Komi is 8 in even games; Black wins ties in even games Ing Ko Rule applies Free handicap stone placement; White wins ties Additional timing rules (one variation includes losing points for going over the allotted basic time) Anyone here played them before? How was it? |

As far as I know only the timing rules/losing points have had an interesting effect. Does anyone know if other aspects of the rules have been different from Chinese rules in these tournaments? |

Ing cup time; Each player gets 3 hours 30 minutes and no byomi. W gets 8 points. And when a time expires, player gets 35 minutes extention up to 3 times and each extention penalize 2 points. When 3 extention is over, player losees by time. |

2nd round; Xie He defeated Jiang Weijie by resign. Cho Chihoon defeated Liu Xing by resign. Tan Xiao defeated Choi Chulhan by 4.5. Cho U defeated Qiu Jun by 4.5. Park Junghwan defeated Piao Wenyao by resign. Lee Changho defeated Kong Jie by 0.5. Fan Tingyu defeated Lee Sedol by resign. Gu Li defeated Won Seongjin by 2.5. 0.5 or 4.5 - copying result from oro. Probably it is 1 or 5 points. When points is tie under Ing rule, b wins. 3rd round pairing(5/27) Tan Xiao vs Fan Tingyu Gu Li vs Xie He Park Junghwan vs Cho Chihoon Cho U vs Lee Changho |

If the komi is 8 points, how did two games end with scores of +4.5? Best wishes. |

This is turning out to be quite the awesome event!!! All of the three players I rooted for are off to a good start with wins! I'm especially happy that Lee Changho beat Kong Jie. I'm so happy to see him back in action. The game felt very like his distinctive style of play and I'm happy to see it once again. It's also great to see Cho Chikun kicking some arse internationally. Strangely, Cho U is playing for Taiwan isn't he? |

hi, for TMark: see Xaos above, "Komi is 8 points, Black wins even games." That is, in effect, the Komi is 7.5 points. You know, Ing has to be different. |
