I'd like to review games from an extremely territorial pro. Do you know of one who fits that description? |

From what I know (and this is not much) Ishida, Cho Chikun and Kitani Minoru (maybe in reverse order). |

Park Yeonghun, Kang Dongyun, Chen Yaoye among recent top pros. Cho Hunhyeon, and Cho Chihun among the old. These pros above, naturally their games are very thin, but they are very sharp in handling their thinness. Lee Changho or Kobayashi Koichi has a "thick territorial" playing style, also taking care of thickness along with territorial balance. This playing style is very stable, but also can be a slow play, which is the main reason why Lee Changho changed his style after 2000. |

I would also recommend Chen Yaoye these days - lots of recent title games to look at too ![]() |

I've just checked a couple of games from Kobayashi Koichi and I think it's exactly what I was looking for. Starting as w with two 3-4, and following up with everything on third and even second line. Getting an early territory advantage and then winning the game by putting living stones everywhere and destroying any chance of pretty areas (at least to my eyes). I'll check the others. Thanks for the help. [Edit: Chen Yaoye is great too. Playing all those moves I always think "I so much want to put that stone... But it's so gote..." ![]() |
