I am in love with these new forums so far. They are shaping up to be much better than GD.

Just a little suggestion: I find it a little weird and confusing that each user's join date/time is shown under their name in every post. The main reason is that I often glance at the month/day portion and think that it's the date of the post. The secondary reason is that it's just kind of weird. I mean, do we really need to know what time of day and day of the week someone registered?

Thanks for bringing this up -- it's been bugging me too! :)

I think it's very annoying too, and I'd like to remove it if other people agree...

Also, in a similar vein, do we really need that giant "Online"/"Offline" button for every post? I can see why the information is useful, but would anyone mind if we turned it into just some icons like Image and Image next to the user's name on the post?

I think it'll clean up the left side of each post considerably, which is often several times taller than the entire content of the post itself.

I agree with both ideas. There are quite a few things that can be done with that area; we can add other go related fields (KGS, IGS nicks, etc.)

Online playing schedule: Every tenth February 29th from 20:00-20:01 (if time permits)

I had not even noticed either of them.

Okay, I've gotten rid of the "Date Joined" field, since that's pretty non-controversial. I'll wait until we get a bit more feedback about replacing the "Online/Offline" buttons with the little icons next to the username.

Agreed.

Though personally I do really like the join dates, but I'm a sucker for random information. Obviously with everybody moving over from another forum all at once, it doesn't mean a whole lot right now, but as time will go by it's kind of fun to see who's been around and for how long. Again this really doesn't matter all that much, and since the change has already happened, I'm fine with it staying the way it is. ;)

I agree, it's useful information, and it can still be accessed by actually going to the user's profile. I think the prevailing opinion is simply that it doesn't belong on every single post made by that user.

Since nobody seems to hate the new online/offline icons, I'll take care of those tonight :)

While your fingers are in that, can you fix the alignment of that area? The left margin for the avatar and the "Dies in gote" part is not aligned with the info below. It's driving me nuts. :-)

Edit: Nevermind, I broke down and took care of it. It has the pleasant side effect of making enough room for KGS sized avatars.

I'd like to see the poster's name in a slightly larger font.

Done! As well as, of course, the prettiful new online/offline icons :) Let me know what you think. Should they be smaller, bigger, somewhere else?

Thanks! I'd left justify too, by I don't know if others would like that.

Araban also requested that privately. Starting to sound like something people want -- anyone else?

Yes please. Consistency = good. And doesn't give me the twitches every time I see it. ;)

I like the icon idea, but have a little trouble telling them apart (red-green problem). Maybe you could increase the saturation or brightness of the green icon a bit? This would give an additional on-off impression.

From another (slightly) red-green color blind person, ++.
