Here is a game that is representive of my playing on a 9x9 board.
As you can see this was very territorial way of playing...

I won that one but the computer is only on "medium" level, and the komi is 0.

The point is not how strong a computer is or not... but I'm starting to feel that this kind of "territorial playing" has no chance to win when there is a komi of 6.5 or so.

So the question is : On a 9x9 board with a komi, should we kill them all to win or is it a chance to win with a territorial style ?

I wonder what you are thinking about that...

As black, with white at 6.5 you definitely can't (in my experience.) as white you can play slightly laid back, as black you have to be bloodthirsty.

You beat the computer playing Black. :)

So next time take White. I think that you will find that a simple territorial style will not work as White.

The programm I'm playing playing as a challenge mode, and playing white is actually part of the challenge.

challenge use a two axes system, with the computer strength one one axis and, the komi on the other axis.

The first game I posted was level 3, with "komi 0"
I finally also completed level 3 with komi 6.5 (tryied to be "blood thirsty" as suggered by RBerenguel, but that's again a territorial one that worked this time...)

and now I have to beat computer at level 3, me playing white, with "0 komi"...

Suggestion: Don't move a level up until you beat CS at least three times in a level. I don't play against very often, but I'm still stuck at level 3, komi 0. Best has been 2 straight wins so far, winning against it is non-trivial anyway.

I think this is a really good suggestion, for now I was just trying to find "my hard limits", I mean the games that I cannot win at all at my level... and I think I somehow reached that wall... so time to move backward and consolidate things now...

Hi oca, 9x9 can be fun of course;
beware that 9x9 is basically a different game than 19x19 —
you pretty much must start contact fights right away.

Enjoy. :)

Sure, It's like playing a big tsumego ! I think playing different size may help not playing some kind of "auto move"... I mean playing a two spaces extension just because we have been told that's good... that help to understand that each situation is really unique...
