I played a game with a friend like as white, my friend did this fuseki (I played in hoshis). My next move was in tengen, I didn't what to do good because I was afraid of give a strong shape for black.

Was it a good fuseki? My friend didn't say nothing about it, only that he saw in one chinesse book...

More seriously, it's not that different from the high chinese, except that the top left is more open. I'm not sure if it's ever come up in professional play much aside from by transposition, however. I don't know that black gets compensation on the left in exchange for the more open corner, and the high chinese is somewhat out of fashion because it's easier to invade successfully.

But, what do you think about it? How can we attack or use it?

Offhand, I'd treat it like the high chinese except that white can expect a better result in the top left. I don't think the placement of the 5-4 stone vs. 4-4 should affect the fighting in the lower left all that much, though it might be thought of as a slightly more ideal extension to the central stone.

This fuseki was a accident in my friend. Today I saw him and he brought his "book" (it was a pdf).
The fuseki that he wanted do it this (variant high of chinesse fuseki):




I tried to play it in one game. The stone in D15 was attacked in D17 A typical joseki, I think that this fuseki isn't to my style of play.
