| Post subject: | Can you recommend a structured course for high-kyu/low-dans? |
I rank around 4kyu on KGS and would like to take my study more seriously and aim for 1dan. I have previous used the scattered resources on the internet, a few random Go books and even had lessons online. However I feel now I would benefit from some structured Go course which systematically teaches principles, tests them with puzzles and guides you to higher skill levels. (Like a university unit!) Can anyone recommend such a structured course for me, whether online or physical book? Brendan |

I can't recommend it from personal experience but something I'm thinking of signing up to (and I'm around the same rank as you), is Guo Juan's Internet Go school, which includes lectures and spaced repetition problem sets matching the lectures. https://internetgoschool.com/ |

There are many many lectures there, organized by subjects and levels, so if you know what you need (what are your weaknesses) it can be totally worth it. You pay 1€ for a lecture and then can watch it as much as you want for a month, so you can really sink in the information (which means you shouldn't watch too many lectures at once). That in itself can help you a great deal but as CnP mentioned there are also spaced repetition problems directly coming from the lectures. For this, however, you have to pay 40€ a year (if I remember correctly) but on the other hand you have access to all problems on the website (but here again: don't do too many problems at once because it can become quickly overwhelming). Although, depending on the subject, it can be best to watch a lecture before trying the problem set. An alternative to this website could be the American Yunguseng Dojang which I didn't try. Did anyone here? |
