what komi did you use for katago/ what komi does this game have? I`m surprised black is supposed to be clearly ahead (unless it`s 0 komi then it doesnt surprise me). |

Me too I was surprised ... I used a 6,5 point komi. To test whether my version of KataGo takes it into account, I changed komi to 0,5 ... and KataGo gives Black a 14 pt advantage. If it were strictly additive it should give 12 points but this shows it takes komi into account. Edit: I also made two other changes to test the evaluation 1) I moved White's lower left 3-3 stone to 4-4. That seems to reduce Black's advantage from 6 to 4,5 (with error margins) 2) I replaced the upper left with (what used to be) the standard line of the large avalanche outward turn. That further reduces the advantage to 3,5. See below Maybe having solid influence towards the opponent's lone corner is giving an advantage, if we compare both assessments. As this wasn't the theme of this post I won't further investigate this now but if someone has a view on which effects compound into such a big lead early on, I'm also interested. |
