Nihon Kiin has now replaced the dictionary of tesuji, fuseki, and joseki. Next month it looks like Cho U will be the author of the new life and death volume.

Guessing from the info there, it will be similar to the tesuji volume and taken from two books down to one.

Did anyone buy the book and wishes to share their opinion of it?

I got it as a prize/present and have just started to go through it. It starts from the very basics but gradually goes to higher level. Not very challenging for a dan player but useful systematic ground work for study.

Cheers,
Vesa

Like the old one, it's a solid explanation of the most common shapes with some harder problems thrown in later. I think it's a good book to have but not a necessity. I like all the dictionaries from that series.

Is it worth getting if you already have All About Life and Death?

Nvm, I think I got my answer. It turns out that both books 'All About Life and Death' are only the first volume of the original. 'New Dictionary of Life and Death' seems to be both volumes in a single book.

The old set by Cho Chikun was a bit disappointing. The second volume was just a selection of problems from classic collections (Gokyo Shumyo, GenGen Gokyo, etc.). I have hopes that Cho U will do someting different, perhaps more original thinking about life and death problems.
