Post subject: | tips tsumego books ? |
Hi guys, I`ve been trying to find some good life and death to do for around my level (egf 3k, tygem 2d). I was doing graded go problems for dan players 1 but seemed like a bit easy. (maybe it will get harder later) I`m looking for problems I can solve in like a few minutes, not at glance. I tried some chinese green book from which I forgot the the title but it was way too hard. I tried 10 problems and was only able to figure 1 out completly lol. Any good tips ? Thanks, Otenki |

I'm not near your strength, but from what I've read: Lee Changho's L&D (and Tesuji) sets (4-6). Maeda Shokyuu (Maeda's 3rd volume) 1000 Weiqi Problems Weiqi Life and Death Drills v1,2 Gokyo Shumyo Xuanxuan Qijing Guanzi Pu Cho U Tsumego They're above my level right now, but you may want to take a peek at those? |

I think reading this thread will help you: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=11963 There are 2 problem books that might fit your strength: "1D~2D" and "3D~5D". They contain many L&D problems as well as other subjects. Personally I am solving the "1K~3K" right now and think it is quite good for me (2-3 kyu KGS), neither very hard nor very easy. |

The graded go problems for dan players series are actually compilations, though they don't advertise it. Each book was composed by joining two separate japanese books one after the other... for the 1-3d books, the first book is the easier (1d) one, and the second book the harder (3d) one, so if you skip to the middle of the book, the problem difficulty should generally go up. |

Thanks for the tips! @skydyr: I've skipped the first part of graded go problems for dan players and indeed it gets a lot more intresting. The green chinese book that I was referring to was this one btw: http://g.onegreen.net/Soft/UploadSoftPi ... 261602.jpg Anyone know for what kind of level that would be suitable, seems hard but not undoable if I get a bit better ? Cheers, Otenki |

The fourth book of the series "Graded Go Problems for Dan players" is much harder. At 1K KGS, I can solve all the 6D problems and a lot of of the 7D but I generally need more time than what is expected. Even if the level of the tsumego is really inflated, I am sure you will have some fun with this book. It is at least KGS 1K - 1D level. |

Probably dan level problems, I have that book somewhere, need to find it. That is the 2nd book of two, see here http://senseis.xmp.net/?WeiqiEducationPracticeWorkbook There is a new edition of the book 1, but published as two books. I think there is some info on senseis, but I didn't have time to look for it. |
