Recently, I was thinking of subscribing to a Go magazine. Go World is seemingly dead, so I think that just leaves the foreign language options. Does anyone have idea which publications are available in Europe? I'd be looking for something primarily with pro games and some exercises etc. No hope of becoming fluent in Chinese/Japanese in the near future, so the commentary would be a minus ![]() |

There really aren't any magazines in English comparable to the old Go World so you would have to choose one of the Japanese Gekkan Go Warudo ("Monthly Go World"), Korean Baduk magazine, or Chinese Weiqi Tiandi. All of them will be expensive. FOr example the following source for Baduk (http://www.hanbooks.com/bamaon1su.html) quotes a subscription price for 12 monthly issues of US $167. All the magazines have extensive text in expository articles and game commentaries. You might do better to use online sources for news and game records. |

There is loads of periodical/blog/newsletter type stuff online, but if you want a print periodical perhaps your local Go Association's magazine and back issues? (If you aren't already a member, of course). |

Of course you can get Gekkan Go Warudo ("Monthly Go World") online for 700 yen a month. However, if you can't read Japanese, I can't really see the value there. With a certain amount of cash burning a hole in your pocket I think you should consider whether your best value right now would be Go Game Guru's Baduk TV English. The reason is that I think struggling with the language puts a tremendous damper on what you can learn. Pure game records you can get off of Go News or similar sites (not to mention GoGoD, which I always do ![]() |
