Does anyone know of a font I can use for a mac that lets me display numbered stones?
I know that there are a few around for windows, but I didn't find one for the mac!
At the moment I am (badly) translating a book from romanian into english. Right now, I am writing out move numbers in words, for example White 18:
It looks prettier to be able to have a numbered stone, so I'd love to find a way to do that.

you've want a unicode font, then you can use the character viewer to find them. Not sure if the character viewer is availble without first enabling an asian language.

if you know their unicode number, you can probably enter them directly -- but not all unicode glyphs might be available without first enabling an asain language?

The closest I found in unicode was http://unicode.org/charts/PDF/U2460.pdf but it only goes up to 20

You can probably find fonts that have these extra numbers - for example, I read that 'Kozuka Gothic Pr6N' has several numbered circles. Unicode also goes higher than 20 for circled numbers (e.g. http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode ... /index.htm).

But I would recommend, instead, to use LaTeX for something like this. It's much more flexible, and probably worth the learning curve. Here are some examples of writing circled numbers:

Yeah, I did think about installing Latex, but I decided that I couldn't be bothered in the end.
Too many bad memories of people complaining that their frisky diagrams didn't work properly with psgo.
Probably, it is the best approach though in this case if I am determined to achieve my aim.

Unicode looks possible, but I am noticing that in using it I would be introducing a different font to the game diagrams I am generating. Maybe, in fact, there is some way of exporting the font that GoWrite is using... I wonder if that's possible or me dreaming.

It's open source, so you could modify it with your own numbering system.

Yes, I saw govan actually, but I wasn't clear about the ability to add numbers. The end result will be PDF and ODT. As far as I am aware, the (now defunct) publishing house was run by the communists, so I don't have any qualms about publishing the translated material.

Not at all. Firstly, the vocabulary required is very small compared to any normal translation work. Secondly, you can already get a passable translation through a machine, which is (surprisingly usable, allowing for the fact that it doesn't understand the japanese interspersed through the romanian, nor any of the more complex grammatical structures: nonetheless it is a usable crutch, which you can correct quite quickly, and progressively more quickly as the pages crawl by. So long as you know Go, you can't go too far wrong.

Creating move graphics using gowrite is not difficult, I wrote instructions into http://gowrite.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=907. Instructions help creating svg graphic files for numbered stones.

Graphics could be used as they are. It could be possible to convert those to font, but I do not have experience on such conversion.

Oh great, I must try this tonight. If it integrates correctly, I just have to add one or two images for various marked stones.
