MS-DOS Go Simulator (1992) … https://archive.org/details/msdos_Go_Simulator_1991

Description
Go Simulator is a computer adaptation of the classic Chinese strategic board game known worldwide as go. The game includes a complete tutorial to learn the basic rules of go. Using the numerous available options, the player can customize the game to adapt the difficulty: size of the board (from 9x9 to 19x19 lines), AI level (1 to 20), handicap (0 to 29 stones on the board before the game starts), etc. It is possible to play against the computer or a friend, and even watch the AI play against itself.

Enjoy!

Even the speed is authentic, I see.

Were they really intent on doing an exhaustive tree search on a 486?

I'm just glad I didn't choose to play 19x19 if that's the case ...

By the way, meanwhile I got replies to this in other networks from people who said this looks exactly like the version of “The Many Faces Of Go” which they had on their DOS machine in the 80s. So I searched and found this image. Apparently the program was sold under different names by different licensees/distributors.

It can be seen as soon as you run it. I doubt Fotland would write more than one go playing AI :)
