probably this theme have been discussed in the past, but...

I use to have an Android tablet and find it very useful also as a kifu.

My favorite APP is BW_GO, by Marc Oldenhof, mostly for
1. easy to access window and controls
2. very useful tool for replacing a stone if in wrong position (that's a MUST with tiny screens and BIG fingers)

The only thing that I miss is a proper Go-Clock (very helpful to understand one's game mistakes and indecisions during the analysis/review).

Also, I would like to have a specific tool for sgf paper diagrams (e.g. tsume go for validating a solution).

Do you use a specific APP?
Please share and advice.

Some android apps:
- BW-Go add-on, called BW-Joseki, same author
- Go4Go, extensive list of recent pro games, full kifu, for replay and study
- GoQuest, fun little app to play 9x9 or 13x13. Don't fool yourself: many (very) strong players.
- Gridmaster/Steenvreter, by evdw (user on this forum)

Several tsumego apps.

I don't know a kifu app with build in clock. There are some apps which you can use as a clock with byoyomi timing and/or canadian overtime.

Gridmaster. I love it. Thread: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=10059

- You can play, download of engines (like Pachi or Gnugo) pretty automated
- You can edit and mark board
- The input is the best possible, I think. You touch screem and drag. Depending from the direction you drag, the stone stays behind and snaps. You can define the distance of the stone to your finger in the options.
- Board is zoomable
- Many options, e.g. for font sizes

There's a free and a pay Gridmaster. I think both the same, but if you like it, you should afford the small fee.

HactarGo is versatile SGF editor and learning tool. It has computer opponents of different levels. It has tsumego solving mode where one can add their own problemsets. HactarGo also has the best pattern search I have seen and from a big database (great for studying openings).
All in all it is the best go app that I have found for android.

A yeah, Hactar... I have some problems e.g. opening Kogos Joseki Dictionary, didnt work, Hactar crashed. Does it work for you?

thankyou for your advices, I am always looking for new Go app, and sad but true, it's quite difficoult to find, due to the homonymy with the english verb "to go"

I am currently making some tests with Gridmaster then I will try Hactar go as well.

My first impression is that Gridmaster have some pros and sone cons in comparison with BW go.

PROs
it have the clock system
(that is a feature I was looking for)

CONs
It is not so easy to change a move/misclick without have to create a variation
(this is something that really put BW go ahead in the match, still let's see if some practice can help with the usability)

The goban is smaller and not using all the screen since the coordinates are shown...
- this is another important point to be considered in a small touch screen
+ but there are the coordinates and that is interesting when adding some comments

Also the rating system for the moves is "something new" that I will try
(basically, I have sometimes added question/exclamation marks in the comments, according chess annotation system)

You can hide coordinates, have a look into the options again... Did you get familiar with the input method? I think it's failsafe....
As for variations, you are right, it could offer an option or the possibility to remove all variations etc. etc.
Maybe place a suggestion in the Gridmaster thread?

Go apps are not thát difficult to find, either Apple or Google/Android.
Search term 'baduk' gives lots of results.
You can also browse what other people (go players) have downloaded. Many have downloaded several go apps.

Gridmaster has an option to change misclicks (or move stones). Try: tools->setup->shift

Removing a variation can be done quite easily. I usually first zoom out to tree view, jump to the node I want removed (double-tap), and then cut it out (tools->game tree->cut). Next, you could paste the node back elsewhere in the tree, but if you just want it removed then you just skip that. Another option is to simply scrape off all side variations (tools->game tree->scrape).
