Does anyone know the measurements of a standard Chinese Go board? Not so much the board size, but the measurements of line width, and the distance between lines. I have searched the internet, but have not been able to find any results other than it being mentioned that Chinese boards are slightly bigger (and therefore use slightly larger stones).

I have a bamboo board (reversible, with 13x13 on the other side) which is made in China. Based on my somewhat inaccurate measurements with a printable paper ruler, I thought that it conformed with Japanese measurements (line width: 1mm, line spacing 22mm, 23.7mm), but the stones just don't seem to fit as tightly as I would expect them too. The stones I have are Korean-manufactured JangStone II glass stones. They are supposed to be 8mm x 21, so I'm wondering is perhaps the stones are a bit smaller than average. Regardless, I'm still curious to know about the size difference between Japanese and Chinese table boards. Thanks.

Though it is unclear whether the sensei's author knows the difference between "pitch" and "spacing".

Spacing, technically, is the distance between inside line edges; pitch is the distance between line center to line center (in the case of identical line widths).

So the distance from center to center line 1 to 19 would be
18 * (spacing + line_width)
or
18 * pitch

The distance from outside edge line 1 to outside edge line 19 would be
18 * (spacing + line_width) + line_width
or
18 * pitch + line_width

Chinese boards seem to be about 1mm more between lines due to the slightly larger and single convex stones.

But it's hard to make generalizations because stones are made in a large variety of sizes, and (as mentioned in the L19 post above) Yunzi are made double convex, which are a mixture of two countries standards (Yunzi is a chinese material while double convex is the Japan/Korean standard)

Your Chinese board is square, yes? Not rectangular like the Japanese style? I've seen cheap "Chinese" boards (of unknown origin)that were rectangular but in the wrong direction so they were much larger than either.

I'd suggest you buy a slightly bigger and probably better set of yunzi stones form one of the more reputable online suppliers who would be willing to get specific and precise about the diameters.

Either that or get another board.

But I tend to enjoy the quirkiness of all of my go equipment.

According to YMI's Go FAQ, Japanese go stones are around 21.5-22.0 mm in diameter, so your stones are a bit smaller than average.

Jang Stones no 2 are 22/8.5 mm and 21.7/8.3 mm respectively according to the manufacturer.
Korean stones are said to be a bit smaller than Japanese and I think that this may be true on average, though maybe not in the Jang stone case.
