I watch a lot of magicwand's forum games and really wanted to play one vs him. The comments that he's been leaving on L19(as opposed to Godiscussions) are really great so I'd love to see what he says about our game. Good luck, have fun. I don't have any ideas or plans as of right now - in a 4 stone game, I think magicwand can throw anything my way. Overall, I like small scale go and try to make some solid groups to keep the pressure on white and off of me. |

I'm going to play high. This isn't a normal way for me - even in 4 stone games but something that I've been experimenting with since Shygost said that this works to keep the area a little more unsettled. |

This is my first instinct in handicap games usually - make white fight for each group to live rather than worrying about you know... killing my stones. It was my plan if white 3 was at a. I expect and can handle this continuation. However;
The variations that I see after this don't look so hot - because white 1 will have sente to move on the bottom.
This seems good for B. He gets quite a bit in the corner and sente. I believe W will resist -
But I welcome this fight. It seems fun. |

At first look, I thought that the top was bigger - but due to the potential fight in the lower left - I believe that I need to play on the left and play high. It was a quick decision. |

I really want to pincer(b) here so bad - it's close enough to avoid one of the variations shown before if white next plays at 'a' but it can come under attack much easier if black b, white c, black a, white d. So again, we'll back off - I think the kicks at X will be miai. |

This is my first instinct. White can connect - it looks OK for B but maybe too easy on white. W3 is maybe too good.
This one gives white an equally appealing move at W1. The question then is whether W3 is overplay because of the cut at X and white must play on A.
After reading this far, I think that I need to slow down and consider what my plan of attack is. So far, I've decided to attack because I know that it's right. It's time to attack. But why? Where is my profit? I'll think it over. |

To me, black's mindset and first several moves seem to betray his belief that he is attacking. And already trying to think about where his profit is... I hope I'm wrong, but I get a bad feeling. |

Respond to a cap with a knights move, right? Well, I dunno. ![]()
A and B both seem a little more defensive yet also less eager to escape. But at the same time, I'm not too sure of my move either. Maybe I'm missing something here. |

I knew this move was coming immediately. Black must not be familiar with Magicwand's style to think M17 was remotely a possibility. |

@cdybeijing: But black is attacking! To my mind, his last two moves are perfect. White has two weak groups, and will have to outfight black from an inferior position (of course, this is not unusual for a handicap game). Any other move by black would feel too timid to me. @Aphelion: White's last move doesn't have so much to do with style, I think most dan players would play it in a 4-stone game. That cap is of course kind of unreasonable in a normal game. But for 4-stone it's perfect because it generates chaos and fighting. |
