Skydyr opened up with a 5-4, Otenki opened up with a 5-3. Both made me feel uncomfortable. This is an opening probe and I'd like to see how he handles it.

:b2: feels sort of like the wrong direction to me - perhaps the other 3-5 would have been better. If black makes a shimari, I'll just go and extend along the bottom side, and I can't see myself getting a bad result. If black approaches :w1: on the lower side, then he is treating :b2: as a fifth line stone, which is a little odd at this stage. Perhaps he will do something about my position on the left, or start building a moyo on the right. I'm not worried yet either way. I guess I'll carry on flexibly with another 4-4 until his plan is clearer.

I don't mind you unhiding it at all, but I think the answer is going to be unsatisfying. As DeFlow says in his first post, the komi is set at 6.5 - that is, presumably, for white. It's not any different from a standard even game, except that I lose the nigiri by default. It's the 'handicap' my opponent asked for - perhaps he thinks he plays well as black but badly as white. I don't know, and don't especially mind the unconventional format. Ask him, not me. :)
