You see the marked stone at C15 done or the one at D15 done in normal circumstances. But I felt playing at C14 with ![]() Also, I'm really not too concerned with the bottom left corner. I obviously played D5 for influence rather than cash, but if I can eventually move into the corner that would be a nice bonus. |

it's looking like there won't be many weak groups this game. And with all these low stones I won't be able to entice my opponent to overplaying into a framework ummm i suppose that means i'll just make all my groups strong so that I can invade without worry.
I think we'll end up somewhere like this. and i'll be looking around these points. |

Alright "Get strong at the opening!"
This is too low.
I think this is the weakness of my move. but
it doesn't seem so bad. Then again:
my expansion of this group is limited by these two stones. And now I have no potential plus a 3-3 stone. And black has all stable groups. Maybe I messed up somewhere....
Maybe this is how the game will go. Because of 3 I think 2 should be low. |

Hm, I hate situations like this. I see several moves I'd LIKE to make. But this is where I often have trouble discerning where the best move is. White looks pretty good on top, but then there's the right side. And also, I feel like playing a stone at the top could potentially lead to a bad time for me. And even so, I'm not too sure how I'd do it successfully. Hm.... Fudge it. No risk, no reward right? I'm not sure if this is the best move here or not, but I'll take my chances. |

The bottom looks bigger than invading to me. |

Also the invasion point is K17. |

Well there are two sides to defend on and this side prevents black from making a base.
"a" looks strange but i'll have to figure out how to respond to it when it comes up. I think black will first jump out and save a for later. It looks passive to defend myself at b after black jumps but maybe having two strong groups on both sides of a weak group is a good idea. Although if black jumps there his group is still unsettled so I can maybe take a bigger point somewhere else since I don't think a will support his group completely. (Although to be honest if he makes the jump to "a" I'm not really sure how to keep the group weak.)
A? actually by looking at this diagram my 3 stones look very hard to settle... if these three stones are so easy to disrupt why do I see this played in other peoples games... I think I should press him down against the 2nd line and have a thick group to prevent them from becoming heavy. Then I can play my big move. |

Isn't pushing this way much better for white? |

Jump before dive, right? That's how it normally works, I believe. But here, I feel there is something to be gained from diving first. Call me crazy. Whatever the case may be, I'm feeling particularly suicidal. My reading isn't very good (obviously), but I feel I have something to be gained. ![]() |
