Any comments would be appreciated. Overall I think I have some slow, ineffective moves. I haven't played in a while. Now, back to tracking down my "escaped" Malkovich games. I guess I'll just claim I lost network connection. For months. Yeah, that's it...

I've seen P6 recommended for :w16: when the pincer is one space closer it threatens both attacking the pincer stone and O3 in that instance. Here I think it's playable but it's above my paygrade. :)

Another game. Similar. Looking at it, maybe a little too much following my opponent, not enough mutual damage in endgame.

A few comments on your second game.

13: Despite the misclick later, you came out ahead in the upper left corner. After this move you have transposed to the d16-b16 joseki except White has exchanged c15 for b15, which is probably bad for him.

23: You now have strong groups on both sides and he doens't have two eyes in the corner. Great result.

28: He is overconcentrated. Black feels ahead now.

35: I would play at s18.

40: White got off easy in this corner, but I think you are still ahead. His shape is just a little thin, for example he can't cut off an attachment at s13.

43: I would jump into the corner here. Black has a strong low stone at c10 and White has a strong low stone at n3, makes the corner look good in comparison. Also he has two corners already and can get s2 if he wants.

52: I don't know much double approach joseki. I think this result is good for you, but you should reduce the bottom soon (now would be a good time).

61: If you double hane you also commit to pushing one more time or take gote to protect your cutting point. I'm not sure which is better. The way you played there is the cut or clamp later on.

77: You have miai between c7 and living in the corner with b2, this move is almost a pass in the middle of a serious fight. I think c11 kills him. I think this is your most serious mistake of the game.

91: Extend at g11 for Tons Of Liberties (tm). If he connects at d9 just play f11.

96: White took your corner and got to extend his wall twice in sente.

99: His cutting point is important, but the right move to start in this area may be just cutting at g8 directly, since you would almost never want to cut on the other side. j8 goes deep behind the sector line but doesn't actually cut. The p7 clamp is also a significant weakness. I think I would play at n7, or n8 if I was feeling timid.

103: Do you need this defence? I would play at n7

105: It may not be the biggest right now, but the cutting point at q6 can be played at this point

107: Suddenly moyo outta nowhere. Very cool.

113: l12 or m11 may be bigger, perhaps? I dunno.

119 "Testing": Do you think you can live if he tenukis at 124 or so?

127: I prefer q6

129: You can still q6 and if he doesn't give up his stones, sacrifice it and p8 to break into his moyo.

144: Now throwin at c14, then f15. Does this kill? I dunno, but it's very worth reading, and it would win you the game if it worked.

149: Too timid and defensive. p12 probably better. I would play q6.

155: r15 better, I think

171: Smaller than r19. I think you are behind at this point.

207: One point gote. b4 and r2 are bigger. p9 may be bigger because White has followups at o10 and then q11

217: At least take the ko once.

223: More ko threats if you play at n2, I believe.

238: Not actually a threat.

241: Not actually a threat.

I thought this worked at D14 (C14 already has a stone). With an L group in the corner, white only has one eye there, and the aji of capturing lets black kill the other eye. After black F15, E15 and E13 are miai.

Thanks for the comments. I should have gone for that killing sequence. Not sure why I didn't have the confidence to try.

Finally, a fighting game as Tygem is famous for. I misread some things, but I feel I also lack fighting ideas. I look forward to your feedback!

I think the attachment in the upper right is very interesting. Too bad I don't know joseki :(

It looks like the taisha with an extra Black stone at c13. That stone makes me very nervous about the wedge.

This exchange could be good if you had a framework on the left, which is a common reason for Black to play the 2-space low extension. Not in this game however.

Some other comments:

44: Extremely slow. I don't think Black has unconditional life in the corner and anyway you have invested far too much here already.

46: Because of the cutting point at f17, c17 is still almost sente for black

52: Black's previous moves were knight's move to the second line and a two-space jump on the second line. There must be a cut there somewhere.

62: If at m7, Black can extend at k9

77: He's in your framework. Making yourself short on liberties gives him forcing moves. Extending at n15 keeps him weak, and gives you fifth-line territory as a bonus. s13 in the near future now cuts Black, strengthens q13 and cuts off s11.

110: What do you need that stone for? Extending the other way at least has an effect on black

112: I would play j15. Do you think Black has time to rescue h15?

139: I see cutting points.

I don't like :w24:. Maybe ok If you jumped out further or put pressure on one of his side groups, but this way it's very slow.

At :w44: I would have pressed through at F3, then F2 to jump out at F7. Additional to saving your group you attack his double undercut middle group.

P.S.: oops topic covered already.

Indeed. And you found a few other places in the same game I wasn't looking hard enough for them myself. I can't improve everything at once in my game, but my next few games I can be more suspicious of my opponent's shapes.

I'm not concerned so much about things you can see because you are stronger that I can't yet see in my games. I'm concerned about things I could see but never look for and your examples are good for that.

It felt slow when I played it. However, I felt if black played at that point instead, he could seal me in in sente, which is intolerable. So I'd rather look for another haengma than tenuki there, but I'm not sure which one.

Nice insight! I look this up in GoGoD, the outside hane you suggest is in fact the most common pro response to this attachment.

Online playing schedule: When my wife is out.
My basic analysis of the upper left situation is that black played the two space extension to make a base, and white peeped/shoulder hit as a basic exchange to strengthen both positions. Black chose to take something else instead, so the natural move is for white to cut in some manner.
