My main question about this game is when and where to invade the big space in the lower half (or to prevent it’s creation) and maybe some hints on what to do then. :)
Of course, i’m happy about comments on every other aspect of the game, too. In particular on the basics.
After the game my opponent and i reviewed some points together and i went over it by myself later.

Thanks in advance for everyone taking your time to look at it. :)

I'll let someone else comment on the invasion, but I'd like to point out that you can still win the game at the end.

Hi Hrabanus,

:b17: Your C4 group is not really a target for W,
since you can easily make life, e.g. B3, C11.

:b19: No problem. O16 not better; just different.

:b23: OK, if you can handle it.
You can also play at lower right corner now,
if you don't want W to build a big moyo.

:b27: E17 possible.

:b33: Strange. Hane C18 or turn E16. Why do you make it easy for W ?

:w34: Huge, should be your move -- why do you let W take it ?

:w40: Locally, B16. Globally, W is already settled here,
thanks to your help; W can tenuki and take a big point.

:b41: You already gave a lot to W here; tenuki and take a big point.
You can play at the bottom areas now.

:b45: Same problem as :b41: , :b43: -- you're right in your review:
too small, too slow, missing the big picture.
Lots of options at the bottom: o3, etc.

:w46: - :b47: Both of you are not looking at the whole board.

:w48: Very slow, small; o3, etc. much bigger.

:b49: Locally, F9 possible: if W pushes & cuts, you fight.

:w50: Locally, G9 possible.

:b51: Both of you missed many chances to play at the bottom; see above.

:w60: What's W doing ? N9.

:b61: Not looking at the whole board.
W's moyo is much bigger than yours.
It's much bigger for you to get in his moyo;
M8, N9, o10 very big.
( Locally, yes, o14 natural. )

:b67: No; you give up everything to W without any resistance.
Of course o12, then connect P12; you cannot lose those 3 stones locally -- very big.

:b69: N9.

:b71: N10.

End of notes.
Recurring problems: slow, small moves; missing the whole board;
local contact fight mistakes.

Thank you both very much, EdLee & Solomon

@Solomon
The upper right corner was a really silly mistake, normally i see things like that; unfortunatly not always. I hope that changes with more experience.

btw: this was my 35th game (not counting a couple against computers and some 5x5).

That cutting point at L3; well, it’s so obvious now you showed me.
Next time i’ll use my left over time to close my eyes a minute and take some deep breath and look again at the board.

@EdLee

I think the fight mistakes are more easy to adress; by tsumego, practice/experience and reviews. The slow, small moves, not seeing the bigger picture seems harder to deal with since it has it’s roots in different causes:
1) sometimes i’m just caught up in a local fight
2) my judgement wether a group is alive at a certain moment needs a lot of improvement
3) sometimes i just don’t see, could be that i don’t know what to look for

at 1: i already have a “Beware of the toothpaste” note on the desk. I’ll ad one to remind me to look at the bigger picture every move. That shouldn’t be a problem with the comfortable time-settings i use.
at 2: practice & experience
at 3: keep an eye on it, sooner or later i’ll figure it out

a lot of different opinions on that, e.g. senseis.xmp.net and ‘The Second Book of Go‘ disagree with each other which is better in which circumstances. But the nuances of that are probably way beyond my current level. :)

I honestly can’t remember. :-?

EdLee wrote:

It took me a while to understand why this move is important. It’s at least 10 points i lost there.

The rest is quite clear—now someone showed me ;).

Thank you very much for your time and effort!

Right. :b19: high or low is not a problem for you.
Your mistakes elsewhere are much more important and urgent. :)
