This is a game I played on a recent tournament.

I was playing white and black is around 1 kyu EGF while I am a lot weaker than that.

It was a peaceful game, and I had a feeling the game was close but because of my poor endgame knowledge I lost the game for about 10 points or so. I always have trouble with this calm games where there is not a lot to attack. Somehow I have developed fighting style of playing so I am always having a hard time playing against this player :)

Sadly he didn't record the endgame since he was short on time I think, so the game is only up for around 160 moves or so.

The game was played on 45 minutes + 30 sec byo-yomi.

First impression: White is ahead in the sequence to 30. I'd personally pincer at 30.

Hmm, yes it could be a good idea since I have stones on bottom left. However I suck with joseki and pincering :D

All the more reason to do it, then!

Top of the head comments:

:w26: How about attaching at O-15 to make a deep valley?

:w28: :b27: is not sente. Play on the left side. Like C - 11.

:w30: How about a 2 space high pincer instead of inducing Black to build something on the left side?

:w34: D-10, surely.

:w36: Says, I have won. No, you have not. White has fallen behind. How about invading the bottom side or the bottom right corner?

:w56: White is making a comeback. Surely it is time to invade the bottom right corner.

I don't like to attack to stuff unless I am in trouble :/ maybe a bad habbit.

If black Q13 then white P14 and cut? Or R13 try to connect below?

Yes, pincering would be better. I need to practice pincers in the future.

:w34: D-10, surely.

I was afraid of E17 then, since it would be something I never studied. This was a tournament game so I wanted to play things I was comfortable with. But yes, I can see the beauty of the D10

:w36: Says, I have won. No, you have not. White has fallen behind. How about invading the bottom side or the bottom right corner?

3-3 for the corner right? But I can't see how to invade bottom. It just seems too strong.

:w56: White is making a comeback. Surely it is time to invade the bottom right corner.

Yes, this was a huge mistake from me. I don't know why I was so stupid not to play the 3-3 in the lower right.

Also, would someone be willing to show me how to invade at 3-3 in this case?

What if black makes the empty triangle? or plays S5?

I am puzzled that you answered b8 but ignored s5 (and what kind of move you made instead). Almost as if you were compensating for being submissive earlier by letting Black destroy your main territory next and showing "fighting spirit" in form of a gote sequence (60-72) that probably gave Black at least as much endgame benefits to the outside (b13, d9) as it reduced.

As I said, I am not good at go so I am always seeking to learn from my mistakes.

When I play other players we usually go into heavy fights, and I love it.

Sometimes you get to play passive and peaceful players and in that kind of games (like this one) I never know what to do. Simply my endgame sucks.

I'm the same way. In slow games like this, I go insane and make strange moves.
