I rarely ever play sanrensei and don't like playing against it. Maybe that had me feeling off balance but I felt like I was falling behind. Then black made a couple big mistakes and I won by resignation. Pretty big greedy mistake at 159 and lost a big group, then I felt kind of lucky with the kill after 179, I didn't read to the end of that cut but it just looked too good not to try. Aside from those two mistakes working out very much in my favor I don't know if I would have won. In the past it has been recommended I work on over-concentration and poor shape. Hopefully I'm doing better with those? Any critiques, tips, reviews, etc. would be very much appreciated!

Hi Nathan, ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() You probably know the basic joseki: B's G3 stone is at F3 or F4. But now it's at G3 -- this is better than joseki for B. ![]() ![]() good shape for B (hane head of 2), bad shape for W (hane head of 2). E12 keima instead is a big shared vital point, locally and globally. A usual vital point here is D12, but it doesn't work here, so you have to find another solution. Usually this shape is not good for W (exceptions: the avalanches). (The kosumi E13 is slow. ) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() With both ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() You can see this bad habit and ![]() they both stem from bad undersranding of basic shapes. See also Toothpaste . ![]() Putting aside that B's D12 group is not alive yet, imagine the exchange of your ![]() ![]() Or, your ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ( Up to here, except for ![]() ![]() which are both wide open, B jumps into your space. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If B captures, you simply pull back to D8. This way, you get the useful stone at F7, ahead of Black. ![]() ![]() You want to descend to L2 directly. Then you get the nice sente hane at K1 (saving the other atari at J4). 18,20: why?? you are helping black build good shape at same time decrease your liberty. If you say that was to build your moyo.... you can do that many other ways so that answer is wrong. 24: i would play E17 first to make that invasion heavy. 34: empty triangle....bad shape and also you didnt have to play there. waste of move.. 36: dont need to answer now.. 38: you lose hanne at F11 by that exchange... was it worth it? answer is no. 40: squeezing toothpaste.... 48: you lose G9 peep by that exchange ... was it worth it? NO. It only help black get stronger. 50: you can find better move than that. I will let you think about it... 52: Black invasion was too deep.. i would have attacked by pincer. 60: I think finding correct move at this stage is beyond your comprehension...... 70: you know you are down by many many points..you can not win by saving few points gote with your influence. 72: you should have played this before 70. and somehow your opponent finds a way to lose... congratulation. if you are intrested in improving...avoid obvious mistakes pointed by others. |
