I have a tournament tomorrow, so I hope I can get a review in beforethen. In the game, my opponent annoyingly played a dragon, and I foolishly failed at stopping it. I am also wondering if my global strategy was good or not. Thank you! |

I did not see a dragon in the game but I did see some pretty bad comments and language from you which indicates you don't really have good manners. So why should we help you? |

@pocketMAD: Your E15 stones are what we might call a dragon. By the way, if W had played move 53 at E17, it would have been a short game for you. You seem to think that dragons are an annoying way of playing Go. I remember a similar feeling as a beginner, but it's wrong. In fact, crawling a dragon across the board can be a very legitimate way of playing, especially when your opponent's shape is thin. You can't always stop a dragon (you'll spend a good amount of time learning why). Learning how to ease off is an important skill. Unfortunately, I also have to mimic DrStraw's comment. Don't curse at your opponents, especially when you yourself have only a vague idea of what's happening on the board. Unless that opponent is someone who has personally wronged you, your mother, or you're playing the game to avenge the murder of a loved one, of course. ![]() Go is fun; getting cursed at by a stranger (or friend) isn't. You're unintentionally(?) driving people away from the Go community when you do that. |
