Hi everyone, Jujube here. Nice to see the forum going strong. I'm here with a favour to ask. I've been playing Go again, for nearly a year, and have gotten back to where I was in July '16, hovering between 6 kyu and 7 kyu.
We have a great local club, that I'm quite involved with (
https://www.nottinghamgoclub.com/). There are a few of us who have hit a plateau at 6 or 7 kyu. One has subscribed to the Internet Go School, one of us is happy playing games and having fun, and one of us (me) is playing games, doing tsumego and reading strategy / shape books. Having a regular weekly club and monthly tournament has helped me to have fun with the game and I hope to be playing regularly for a long time to come.
What I'm looking for is some advice on
setting out a strategic plan to improve. This might be: concentrate on fighting, do daily tsumego, improve your shape, play more games, play with your heart and soul, look at pro games, exercise, watch lectures...
What I thought I'd do is dump a few games here. Some are embarrassing, and some I'm proud of. My reasoning is for you kind folk to have a quick look at the games and identify, perhaps like a teacher would, common themes around my blind spots or, if you like, the DDK aspects of my game. This is because I've been struggling to identify what to focus on. My collection of Go books is large enough to take me to dan-level, but I shift from one to another, haphazardly.
There is no silver bullet here. I've been somewhat disappointed that I've plateaued, and I'm experimenting with my play to try and figure out how to get on the right path to become stronger. I haven't made commentaries for the games and this is mostly because I'm interested in overall opinions about my play. But I am more than happy to answer questions (Why did you play there? What on Earth are you doing?) and I can add comments to the games if you like. As always I'm very grateful in advance for your teaching.
