Hi,
one thing i encountered very often in my games, especially in handicap-games (as white) is that i have problems dealing with moyos.
Whenever my opponent develops a moyo it seems i can't reduce it enough and invading seems like suicide.

This game, just played today, is typical for me.
I'm white, black is my girlfriend.


Things i already noted is, that for example Move 41 is too soft, i should probably go into the last corner with C4.
Also Move 149 is an obvious mistake, still the ~20 points i lost there wouldn't change the result that much.

Any help is appreciated.

I think you are two protective of what you have decided is your territory. With moves like 19, 21 and 23 you turn loose areas into solid territory, but each one is only worth a few points whilst black makes the moyo you fear. With 23, even, you then sacrifice one of the stones you just protected by taking the corner.

Don't be shy to jump around the board a bit more, work on a grander plan. You won't win if you develop so slowly that the weaker player can match you without effort.

20 points were lost in the blunder in the lower right. Other than that, I think that the biggest mistake was defending the upper right corner at :w39: -- I think that it is alive because of the black mistake :b36:. White should go to B4 or B5 at that point. I think that this would give a more balanced game.

Thank you both. I will try to be a little more agressive in the future.

#36 makes the corner alive? I thought i needed the extra move, but i haven't read it. Seems like i have to do more reading in the future.
